Some background:

Almost every day this truck drives through my neighborhood, heading west towards either the Turnpike or the Goethals Bridge. You’d think he would have stopped after Bolsonaro lost his re-election bid and fled Brazil for Florida, but I guess this guy can’t let it go. The tractor trailer was decorated with Christmas lights back in November & December, and it has loudspeakers that play a crazy variety of music from the US - including “Rock Me Amadeus”, the Ghostbusters Theme, Lil Jon songs, Bruce Springsteen, etc etc.

Has anybody else seen this guy driving around and/or does anybody have any insight as to why he’s still cruising around 5 months after Brazil’s election? I’ve tried finding info about the truck and the driver via Google and Bing, but I haven’t come across any references to it at all. I would imagine he’s probably being paid by Bolsonaro’s supporters to do this - I’d be surprised if he was working as an independent contractor hauling liquids for an actual company around here, with the crazy loudspeakers & endorsement of fascism and all.

I've never heard of this. I have progressive and have never been told any of that when renewing or changing vehicles. I do have more than the basic coverage to be able to cover passengers but have never added anyone else in my policy. Are you dealing with a local office? I've always renewed online and never have to deal with anyone.

Big black dude? He freaked out on me two weeks ago for talking through the slats in the window instead of the speaker (I didn't realize there was a speaker). I asked what his name is and he answer with "the boss, I'm the boss." Talk about someone that needs to feel powerful by being a dick to others for no reason. Yeah, the guy that hands out tickets is "the boss."

The thin older woman isn't that pleasant, either. They act like they're doing you a favor by selling you tickets. I hate dealing with them so much that I buy a bunch for the year in advance. Great, now I've got a pile of useless tickets.

Wait, are we suggesting that the "skilled" nursing facilities can not appropriately do their job and push their patients off to EMS and the hospitals? Shocker.

I get called all the time for near stable patients who would otherwise not need to go had the staff just done their jobs. Ex: the dehydrated man who cannot be given a glass of water because quoting the pt "the staff say they are too busy to hold the cup of water for me to drink from, and won't allow for me hold it myself". Or the dementia patient now acting more abnormal than usual, which surprise to no one, is probably caused by their dementia worsening or a UTI the facility neglected for two weeks.

On the opposite spectrum, there are also the patients that they wait too long to call for who are very septic, about to code or the 8 hour dead-fully rigor patient who was "last seen talking normally 15 minutes ago".

But remember, their shift change was at 11 pm, and its 3 am now. I hate SNF/rehabilitation facilities.

You shouldn’t even have had to clarified since you literally stated you were talking about areas close to the PATH. This guy just wanted to pull a “well actually” and pretend like he knew something the rest of us didn’t

Such as where in Bloomfield you are, right? Since you didn't disclose that, a Google search seems appropriate.

During the DeCamp Covid period, I would take the 709 to to Allwood Rd and Burlington Road and wait for the 191 or 195. Same on the way back. I would avoid the 192 as it takes the scenic route. Maybe not that efficient, but I couldn't find a better way from my house in Bloomfield. Luckily, I am a short walk from a stop for the 709. Using the NJT's trip planner is your best bet.

Like when a nursing home calls 911 for "altered mental status" because they don't want to wait for their private non-emergency transport company. And it's usually just a dementia patient showing a bit of aggression, or some other minor issue. When they barely have enough staff to get by when everything is fine, they will punt the slightest problem to local EMS.

Nothing new. Not just retirement communities, anywhere where at-risk populations reside, be they geriatric or mental health, etc. Bridgewater successfully put an ordinance in place (can't recall the specifics) to try to hep the problem, but still we rolled buses in the wee hours for absolute bullshit calls.

And at the end of the day no ordinance in place will have any teeth, because you can't stop people from dialing 911. So what happens? Volunteer squad sends ambulance, costs hundreds of dollars for nothing call, donations wane, membership declines, volunteer ambulance service ceases to exist, hospital swoops in, end. And so the abuse of emergency services leads to $900-1800 ambulance rides to a "non-profit" hospital.
