It's a type of "nose in the air" exclusionism.

Where a lot of immigrants who worked hard, did the paperwork, waited the 7 to 10 years, and gained meaningful employment in the states feel they are being lumped in with people running from poverty and violence in a refugee like condition.

They don't want to acknowledge that they were never seen as equals by a lot of hard conservatives. They truly believe they're accepted by the GOP for who they are, not their money.

Yup, this has been one of the absolute worst in the area and has managed to get even worse when they built all the new nonsense on the opposite corner (chik-fil-a etc). For a while it also had an overly aggressive red light camera that ended up costing the town more money in legal wrangling than it brought in (while lining the pockets of the company that administered the violations), but thankfully that has been removed.

The USA annihilated Brazil's sovereignty when the CIA instigated operation car wash. Dems and republicans are indistinguishable besides abortion and gay rights. Lula, while a liberal, fights for indigenous rights, among other important issues. I don't care if someone voted trump because he and his base are incompetent idiots. Bolsonaro's aren't incompetent. They commit political violence with greater frequency than that which happens here. Plenty of people here vote in Brazilian elections against the interest of their loved ones. I have every right to tell them to get fucked if they vote against mine.

My fuckin’ in-laws are Jewish expats from Russia. They fled for persecution reasons.

Anti-immigrant and Republican authoritarian. Like wtf?

I remember my wife was completely beleaguered by her father and mother’s comments on immigration. She said, then you guys gotta go. You were immigrants. You don’t want immigrants here. Leave America. They had nothing to say.

I asked, “Why did you leave an authoritarian government for fear of your life only to want another authoritarian government?”

Edit: I’m seeing some conservatives a little unhappy with this post.

To clarify: they came here illegally via fake visa. They are now legal citizens for over 20 years.

They are against ALL immigration. Legal or not. They just want America to themselves (white).
