NJM paid me directly when I had damage. If I have excess funds, I would be able to apply that towards the mortgage.

It’s only in parts of Bloomfield (Hoover and E Passaic) someone must have hit a pole or something related.

I’m in Essex and have no issues myself. Verizon should have an outage map when you login with your account.
Not sure on the accuracy but this third-party site shows a lot of outages.

Yeah NY is aggressive in sending those types of letters. NY currently does not recognize any home office as a company office under their "convenience of the employer" rule.
I expect this issue to eventually go to court once NY rules against someone and that person has the resources to sue NY.
Did you have any deferred compensation paid in 2022 that relates to the time that you were still assigned to the NY office? This would be stock options that vested in 2022, bonus paid in 2022 for 2021 performance, etc. Any of that compensation is still subject to NY tax under their accrual rule-you have to use Form 203-F to separate out that compensation from your salary.
Good luck, NY blows

Got it... This was definitely significant. I was hoping NJM or the mortgage company would put unused funds towards the mortgage or send me a check.

That makes sense. Sounds like there is no option with NJM to put unused funds towards one's mortgage. Thank you for your insight!

I received a text or email the other day saying they were upgrading services today, Friday, but in Union county. Not sure if that applies elsewhere though I imagine it would.

I'm in West Orange and Fios is working fine. But last night I had problems making calls on Verizon wireless so I don't know what's going on around here.

I understand that this may be the only area for housing for you, but have you considered the amount of time you’ll be traveling daily from Tom’s river to north jersey? I did that commute and it was awful, I was on average in the car, in traffic for 2 hours each way.

Often, insurance is paid directly to the contractor(s). This may vary depending on company and scale of claim

If you have significant damage, they will send someone to inspect that you had it repaired. If you were able to get it repaired for less than they paid you, then you made out. They typically do not ask for receipts, in my experience.

A lot of apartments have become available here and, I’ve seen several homes in my neighborhood put out for rent signs. This is the first time in years I’ve started seeing apartments available again
