That was absolutely Home Depot's business model in the 80s into the 90s: straight "kill the competition".
When my family relocated to the shithole of Illinois in the mid 90s (don't get me started), there were a few Sears Hardwares around. Like an extension of the Sears Hardware Department with sometimes some extra stuff depending on the size.
On one long road (we'll say the Illinois version of Route 22, just shittier because Illinois) there were three such locations. Home Depot built locations literally across the street from all three of them.
Within two years all three locations had closed.
I didn't shop at Home Depot for a long time until I absolutely had to because nothing else was around except for Lowe's.

Are you handicapped? Context says no, so you shouldn't be parking in a handicap spot. That's for people who actually need it. Face the consequences of your own actions OP and learn from this.

It's never going to happen. When I worked in Paramus, having Sundays off was great, so I am biased in that regard. However, this has been tried many times and the people of Paramus overwhelmingly vote no each time.

Ground Round has made a small return, 10 locations open, most of them in states along the Canadian border (not sure why that is).
I remember my brother working in Jamesway in between...I want to say his freshman and sophomore year. When they closed it turned into a Frank's (a gardening store) and he worked there too, but did too much lifting for someone too small too be lifting without any muscle and screwed himself up for the rest of his life.

Thatās the problem. The people in Bergen county flood other towns on Sundays because thereās nothing to do in their dull, backwards towns. The people who work Monday to Friday also matter. We all paid for that monstrosity in the meadowlands with our tax dollars. Let us at least shop in it.
The State should also end statewide blue laws with car dealerships. Itād be nice to shop for a car on a day I have off.

Out here in Utah we have de facto blue laws; it's nice for us non-Mormon heathens but it also makes Saturday 10x more crowded than it needs to be. I can't believe NJ does this to itself intentionally

It was a Big Lots-style store a few years ago (American something, I think) but Iām not sure itās anything nowadays.

As someone who has worked retail, I would love the opportunity to work on Sunday. I have another job during the week and I would be able to make a lot more money personally if I had that day to work as well. Iām pretty strongly biased because of that reason.

People in other states have a very same philosophy, but not New Jersey

Fuck the blue laws. I left Bergen County to escape that shit.

Any of the Roots Steakhouses. I always go to the Morristown location and it's better than anything I've had in the state taking into account steaks, sides, and overall atmosphere.

Would you like to explain why youāre trying to get signatures on a petition that is 5 years old?
Have you ever worked retail? Bergen county gives you a guaranteed day off, even during the holidays. You can actually make plans with family and friends without worrying if your dickhead boss is going to change your schedule or call you in last minute.
There is no āloss of revenueā. People adapt to the situation.

Too many people, not enough beach, no way to subsidize the cost and maintain said beach

Devilās advocate: There are plenty of accessible beaches in NJ for people of different income levels. The State beach is free under Murphy and the cost was marginal under Christie if I recall correctly. Itās nice for a non-beach taxpayer to not have to pay for maintaining free beaches that NYers and Pennsylvanians will vacation at. Also, California has free beaches but hey also have homeless encampments lining their boardwalks. You wouldnāt even bother going to the beach if we had that here. Thereās a trade off.

Florida has less taxes and all beaches are free. Just saying.
