The kids are 14, not 9. I think a few hours during the day walking up and down the boardwalk and shopping is probably okay. Plus, free beaches make the cost for families more affordable. Lots to do there besides gamble and drink.

Atlantic city should be swallowed by the Atlantic. The amount of sexual assault/harassment, assholes, people getting knocked out over dumb shit and unsafe and general crime that goes on is something else. Its not a family friendly place. I view it as Detroit by the beach. If you go dont leave your kids out of your sight. Theres way better places with more to do if you want boardwalk, beach and activities for teens.

My sister both lives and works in Atlantic city casinos and clubs and the amount of times ive heard of either her getting her ass grabbed or someone getting knocked out for something makes me wish that shit hole would get swallowed by the atlantic

Places like Wildwood, Point Pleasant, Ocean City, Seaside make their money from families feeling safe. They will identify a creep or scumbag and toss his ass out rapidly.

I'm not sure AC has enough experienced anti-scumbag detection infrastructure yet.

Like 1 out of 5 people is already a scallywag in AC. People go to AC to drink, gamble, and be a scallywag.

I'm not letting my kids run around alone there.

Depends on the teens too if you trust them to have wits and street smart but you definitely can do this day time with rules in a defined radius, do not engage strangers. If all girls I would not probably unfortunately. can't speak for go karts

Teens are easy targets. Unfortunately, it’s a fact that AC is high crime (as are most tourist areas). The difference between AC and somewhere like point pleasant is that AC caters to adults. And with that comes higher risks. It’s not a family friendly destination.

AC also is a low income area which again tends towards being riskier.

I would actually say that in 2023, Seaside Heights is a great place for teens.

Swarming with cops, and squeaky clean, but still garish and "edgy" enough for a teen and her friends to enjoy walking the boardwalk with an ice cream. Lots of families in addition to teens.

Whereas God knows what lurks in the "new arcades for gaming!" in AC.

Yes, and no. Yes, there is one pier with rides in AC, but that is it. Wildwood has multiple piers, multiple waterparks, and probably the most options with the most rides. Ocean City is closer to AC, has two amusement parks, a watermark, multiple mini golf, and a myriad of boardwalk food options. OC is also pretty safe to let your teens run free. AC, is a bit iffy, and the town mostly caters to the gaming crowd. The problem with AC is the relative lack of people, it simply is not as crowded as it use to be. I would be leery of letting 14 year olds run free there.

Because it's AC and it doesn't yet have a tradition of being kid-friendly.

What it DOES have a tradition of is scumbags. Drunks, ass-grabbers, perverts, slimeballs, sketchy dudes, and scallywags.

I'm sure every POS on the East Coast will make a beeline for "lucky snake arcade."

How about that mall that time forgot on the Pier that was like 90% closed as of my last visit in 2021?? Yeah, it was literally like dawn of the dead in there. Was apparently abandoned pre-covid. Supposedly it was sold back to Ceasar’s. Talk about sketchy…….

It could, but you don't make your way back home from AC on the Garden State Plaza lol. I've lived in Bergen County and my wife grew up there, most people outside of Bergen/Passaic County don't think of the mall when hearing "GSP"
