Plastic bags are banned for all businesses, including pizza and Chinese places. They're only allowed to provide paper bags.
>Starting May 4, 2022, New Jersey retail stores, grocery stores and food service businesses may not provide or sell single-use plastic carryout bags and polystyrene foam food service products. Single-use paper carryout bags are allowed to be provided or sold, except by grocery stores equal to or larger than 2500 square feet, which may only provide or sell reusable carryout bags.

Look at meetup or your local yarn store (if you have one) for a knitting group. Same for a women’s hiking group. Could also look for a volunteer activity if your schedule allows.

Reply to Petition for the Removal of the Monroe Superintendent and Bully, Chari Chanley by PitifulDaikon4178
Many of you expressed concerns about Chari Chanley, the Monroe Township Superintendent who made the news last week for lashing out at a parent. A petition has just been created demanding an investigation and her removal.

Local independent bookstore the Asbury Book Cooperative. They have new and used books. They're next door to MoGo if you like Korean tacos. The book co-op has bags of coffee that a local roaster makes for them - I liked it when I got a bag the last time I was there.

Honestly, they still don’t. Their politicians and news channels are telling them to be outraged. They don’t need proof…just outrage.

Came here JUST to say this. Funny how the pro whale people never seemed to care about the environment before these incidents

If your dog is not house trained, rotate feeding them in every room. Dogs inherently have cleanliness instinct to not pee or poop where they eat and sleep. We house broke our puppy in a week by doing this

I made a comment to my girlfriend just yesterday! I noted that there aren't as plastic bags on the roadsides. I noticed in my region, litter is not nearly as abundant pre-bag ban. Just goes to show, a substantial portion of the NJ population will fight against their best interests. Glad the State government isn't caving to these folks.

How ban helium balloons. Every hike I’ve ever been on I’ve found a metallic balloon stuck in a tree or half buried in leaves

I just moved outside of Flemington about 4 years ago to raise my kids here. Hunterdon really does fall in its own little category in NJ.
If you're looking for a family friendly place to raise kids, this is a great place to be. There's a ton of events, farms parks, places within 30-40 minutes for younger kids. Adults and teens though, I mean its kind of dull here, unless you like it that way.
I don't understand what people are talking about when they mention traffic up here. Literally anywhere else in the state south or east has more traffic. I've lived all around and .. Flemington is not bad.
For you right now, there's a bunch of good breweries, there's good local food and farmers markets, but anything other than american classic food is gonna be not great compared to anywhere else in the state. Still only found two good pizza places, and that's stretching it.
Its also very red here. Some blue speckled here and there, but you're gonna see Trump shit all day everywhere you go.
If you're looking for any other specifics like an area in particular feel free to DM me, I've been doing my best to explore the county since we moved and I mean, I like it a lot. Its way better than South Jersey. But many places are.

It also doesn't represent a total ban since many places still provide plastic bags. Like your local pizza or Chinese joint, for example.
