For three months, I'd suggest an extended stay hotel. The rooms will have a decently-equipped kitchen (so you can go shopping and cook meals if you like) and of course a bed, and usually a little sitting area. This way you won't have to worry about furnishings, setting up utilities, internet, etc.

That said, you can also have the USPS forward your mail for the few months you'll be there and pick it up at the front desk. I did exactly this for four months back in 2007 - definitely would recommend it. I stayed at a Residence Inn, for what it's worth.

Yeah it sucks big time.

I showed up with my birth certificate, social security card, passport, current valid driver's license and an OnStar bill because every other bank statement and bill I have is on autopay and I had no other mail around and didn't think to print anything out.

They cleared me at the Randolph DMV at their pre check window and after sitting around for 45 minutes they called me to the window and told me the OnStar bill wasn't valid proof of address even though they told me it was at the initial doc review window.

Nothing can convince me that requiring someone with a passport, social security card, birth certificate and current valid license to also produce a utility bill or bank statement would enhance safety for anyone in any way.

TLDR: fuck the government.

Maybe they don't want to be found OP.

If you do decide to go through with it, Piscataway is a nice area near a major university. The States' public transit system is not like EUs so you may want an international drivers permit to get around better or youll be spending a ton in Uber.

Yestercades in Sommerville which is BYOB. Plenty of restaurants and spots to go out as well. Train station takes you right to main street if driving isn't an option.

Okay, but that's a much lower number than "everyone". Even if it's as high as 50% of people still need those bags to clean up after their dog or for trash, which I seriously doubt, it's still half as many bags being needlessly thrown away. Also, for cleaning up after dogs, shopping bags were always a horrible choice. You can get rolls of biodegradable bags that clip onto your leash for a couple of bucks that take up less space than a single grocery bag in your pocket and won't leave you hanging when your realize you forgot to grab a bag on the way out or a hand full of shit when you realize that there's a hole in the bag.
