Major farms here grow corn or soybeans (shipped to Japan) in rotation. Unless you count indirect food in the corn, it's not food for here.

meat products make up 80% of the land usage for 20% of the calories gained.
We can tell 4/5's of farms to go fuck themselves. have 1/5th switch to plant based food on 1/4th the land needed. and have no caloric difference. This also massively reduces water usage, and GHG emissions.
No farms, Same (albiet different type) food.

I live in a big farming state and they absolutely do this! Complain about welfare and freeloaders and take a big ol' handout all the time. Too much rain= disaster declaration and handout. Not enough rain = disaster declaration and handout. Granted the local economies would also be hurt if the farmers were not propped up but the fact they are blatant hypocrites is what grinds my gears. Most vote Republican but love that socialism.
