My power is out and supposedly coming back Sunday night.

Im able to stay at my partners parents house so I don’t freeze, but I can’t get any of my work done and am losing a ton of food.

It is very stressful

It's fully possible to respect and believe science while remaining open to the idea that there are things we haven't yet learned how to demonstrate scientifically.

The idea that we can only respect science by staying within bounds of what is already scientifically known is...quite contrary to scientific pursuit.

I'm a visual and tactile person. I didn't realize that when I started doing handheld camerawork I'd be in effect doing Tai chi. Using the camera served as an anchor point for my mind. I realized that if I applied techniques from various belief systems strategically, I could use them to guide my cognition and artistic focous. Plus, stones are pretty!

It’s less that Erdogan took bribes himself, more that he didn’t really appoint ministers to watch over everything, and so the reality was that building inspectors would show up before the construction really started, took a bribe, and then didn’t come back. It’s definitely Erdogans fault, and everyone knew it was happening.

The source is tabloid yellow journalism - no '1,000 families' EVER materialized. The number was a complete lie, you can't google it and find any source actually corroborating a number or names that isn't quoting anonymous 'lawyers'. You only find that The Times article that originated it, and various rightwing and Christian evangelist op-eds repeating it. And the Tavistock clinic was set to be replaced with multiple new gender clinics to handle higher capacity.

My history professor? You mean the military officers who taught me military history when I served in the US military? You're telling me that I shouldn't listen to people who actually understand history? Instead I should listen to whom, exactly? Some redneck terrorist who thinks the Founding Fathers whisper sweet nothings in his ear?

Everything I told you is the context that you have to understand if you have any hope of understanding what the 2nd Amendment means by the "well regulated militia" and why it says they are necessary for the security of the state. It's referring to the state-level militias at a time when those were the only military means for the USA to defend itself. It's not referring to some right wing lunatics practicing to overthrow the government in some backwoods red state.

Some states allow the winners to remain anonymous. My state--Pennsylvania--does not, but winners of large Powerball jackpots have been able to claim prizes anonymously using what are called a trust. In these cases the lawyers representing the winner claim the prize for the trust. So it involves some red tape and legal fees, but I would go that route to keep my name from going public.
