People died to get an 8 hour work day and weekends. We used to have unions everywhere to protect and fight for those rights. Those are heroes that defended our freedoms that nobody talks about any more. Meanwhile, we're rolling back child labor laws. imo we should be rioting too, regardless of what the merchant class has to say about it. That being said I'm pessimistic about that.

That will require some big change. Most fire departments and unions have policies and clauses stating they will not respond to armed subjects or mental health crisis without police securing the scene first. I think you'd probably have to give firefighters weapons for them to feel comfortable responding to such situations. At which point we'd probably be right back where started except with people fearing getting shot by fire fighters as well.

It connected me to a lot of people and a lot of opportunities in the early days. I don’t think I’m overstating it to say that a large chunk of my success can be traced back to using Twitter effectively back in 2008-2012. However, it recently occurred to me that it’s given me nothing but downside and stress since 2015 or so. I nuked my account a few months back and I’m shocked how little I miss it.

From the police misusing identification software and apprehending innocent people who end up in prison? Any such person would be at risk for murder or suicide. It's a shitty situation as is, let's not add things that can make it worse and give the already powerful, corrupt police forces of the world even more power. Trusting them to not misuse this can make things even worse, and we'll still have people being kidnapped.

Not at all...

The issue is fertility rates in the bulk of the northern hemisphere are already on the decline - those women having children, most are having 1 or 2 which isn't nearly enough to maintain population #s ... extreme examples include Japan, Norway & Russia (even before the war in Ukraine) which are net negative now and will continue to lose population baring substantial immigration.

China has peaked and the United States would be right behind if not for immigration keeping numbers up.

The only substantially growing population is in Sub-Sahara Africa / without that world pop would be on the decline

You just described my ex wife and then, 5 years later, my ex girlfriend of 3 yrs. Thankfully (and surprisingly) after a truckload of therapy, I am now with a wonderful, warm and generous person.

Btw I have two psych degrees (so shit can happen to anyone, regardless of how insulated from pathology one might feel because of relevant education)
