I (30F) just got off the train and I am writing this. I was in the 2 train going to union square. The subway car just had 3-4 other people. On chambers street, this guy gets into the subway and comes and sits right next to me where both our shoulders were touching. Literally there were like 5 empty seats next to me. I slide into the seat on my other side since I was uncomfortable. He started saying something. It was incomprehensible, all I could get were the words cold and home. He was clearly on something. I was kinda scared at this point and was looking into my phone and he was just staring at me for 2 mins straight and then he moves over to sit next to me again touching shoulders and says something again. My instinct was to just get up and stand next to the doors. The next stop was union square which came in 2-3 mins (which felt like eternity) and I got of the train. He got up from his seat and seemed like he was walking towards the door but the subway doors closed. Thank God!
I am pretty rattled. I have never experienced something like this in the 4.5 years of living in NYC. How do I handle something like this next time? What do I do if no one is in the subway car?
