I could be wrong but my understanding is that they’re ending the lease and forcing them to sell MSG.

No, after 5 years, they make well over $120K all-in comp when you include pensions and fringe benefits, which are equal to over 100% of the base salary. And before you try to argue with me, I’d be completely fine with all EMTs making $100K if they eliminate all pensions, replacing it with a max 5% 401K match, and only paid up to $1K a month in subsidies to healthcare plans that you could buy at market rate on the NY State healthcare marketplace, which would stop after they stopped working.

Or they could be coming from different parts of the state where it’s easier to get a firearm I.e. areas of upstate. Not like LI and the Lower Hudson Valley as well as NYC. Who am I kidding though gun control doesn’t really work. Look at Chicago. NYC. Los Angeles. I could go on and on but all of the major cities that have seriously tight gun control have major street crime/violence problems. Wanna know why? Street criminals don’t get their guns legally. But lefties like you don’t understand concepts like that. So stupid.

Not quite how it works. Your commute time is irrelevant, if you try to drive down a road that's already at capacity, you are adding to congestion and queues. I will give you props pointing out Uber (aka For-Hire-Vehicles), they have been studied indeed as a major source of congestion because they circle the network looking for fares. Congestion pricing under several proposed scenarios will NOT exempt them, however, which would help address this.

that's one of the programs Trump's flyer says he wants to make permanent, and to elevate, under the "access to capital for black owned businesses" heading

Or you know, the people threatening them don't have easy access to guns so it's a good thing.

> Who the hell wants congestion prices
For one I imagine the folks living in the CBD who deal with the congestion every day where they live. The concept behind this scheme is that it should cost money to go into one of the densest and most transit connected places in the entire country. The system has dual goals of raising money for the MTA while also reducing vehicle volume on the over-capacity streets in the CBD. The working class takes transit, I don't deny some drive, but the volume inbound pales in comparison to the millions entering via transit from the region. Certain opponents love to make this "working class" argument, strangely, when the majority are on transit and this would directly benefit them. Obviously if I was in your position I wouldn't want to pay either, but it is what it is eh?

Yea people are fairly ignorant (myself included) of what is it last mile delivery? In a perfect would we would have invested more in rail and then doing lasting delivery from train station adjacent warehouses. How better rails into nyc would have looked? Fuck if I know but this shit right now sure is a mess. Thanks for bringing in my shit tho. I'll be letting you zipper merge only to have BMW or Acura cut us off

I do. The truly “working class” can’t afford parking in downtown Manhattan and has to take the “disgusting trains.” You’re a privileged elitist, who wants to lower the quality of life for others by jamming up the roads. At bare minimum, you should pay for the inconvenience that you’re causing others.

FHVs are a large source of congestion yes. Not all the toll scenarios will exempt or cap them. When the draft EA was opened to public comment I sent in my support for Scenario A which has NO exemptions and encouraged others to do the same. The system will be tested if we end up with many exemptions, caps, or credits and leaves others to pay more to cover the exemptions.

Ydanis by all accounts seems like a kind and likable man. But he's laughably dumb on the topic of transportation and does nothing of value but show up at events to be "the face" of DOT.

They have a super majority and could overtake most of what Adams does. Do they? No. They don't even try. They basically do nothing most of the time and once in awhile vote for a bunch of new "task forces" that accomplish nothing and waste everyone's time.

The article literally says, 5 billion dollars for the cost to acquire land, not build an arena
How are you definitively arriving that 5 billions dollars is not what it would cost to acquire new land for an arena in the area ?
What does the cost to built an arena in a Canadian city have to do with land value in prime Manhattan ?
The article also says that not one single other arena in the city has been requires to obtain an operating permit (side note)
No pride in how expensive and corrupt the city is, but don't see why we need to let useless comparisons drag on
It sucks that land labor licensing air rights building costs construction are so expensive, but your comparison to an arena in Edmonton is pointless
I still dont understand what that 500 million has to do with the 5 billion dollar cost of land

Indeed, he would have been better as the spokesperson. He and even the mayor himself, from my perspective, either ignored or underestimated what running agencies the size NYC has. Bloomberg excelled at prioritizing projects due to his business empire experience. NYCDOT alone has 5,500 employees, you need someone who understands how to run it, how to allot and manage resources, on top of at least understanding or committing to understanding urban planning and engineering. From everything I've heard, DOT right now is lacking this, and not being run efficiently, and is also hemorrhaging staff due to wider issues as well.
