I think one of the problems is Hasidic communities fought for the extremist equivalent of sharia law in NYC. They have their own police entities, their own courts. They've achieved full separatism and the NYPD and District Attorneys office isn't much interested in doing tons of casework where their personnel is being pushed to the backseat constantly and certain offenders are protected. Full autonomy is double edged sword for sure.

Chicago was one of the safest cities in the nation when they had strict gun control laws. They were targeted for litigation by the NRA in the early 2010s. They eventually brought their new, looser gun laws on line by 2013. We all saw what happened. I always chuckle when Guntards bring up Chicago. It's a prime example of what the NRA spent millions of member dollars trying to make happen.

Agreed. Traditionally though the top mod would get mad at folks to see this sorta content stayed up. Let’s see if that’s still the case. I agree this sorta stuff is when the subs at its best.

That's ab emission pricing which you don't pay to f your car is compliant. Which isn't.unreasomable
Virtually all cars sold after 2006 are compliant, all electric and hybrids are compliant as well.
Okay let's add that, so what. Local residents still get exemptions on the congestion, if they drive an excess polluting vehicle they can pay the fine

What kills me is that we who live here, without cars, have to pay the congestion fee to take a cab home everyonce in a while when carrying lots of stuff, while all the outta borough people clog up the bus lanes and pay nothing and complain.

The financing and after that the cost is what concerns me. We're paying over $10 to cross the Verrazano and GW Bridges each way. The Verrazano is 60 years old. Surely it's paid for itself by now.
As to the Big Dig...The original estimated cost was $2.8 billion. The final project cost was $14.6 billion. The Boston Globe estimates the Big Dig will ultimately cost $22 billion (with interest) and that it won't be paid for until 2038. With inflation being what is is, I can't imagine that in current dollars.

It's awesome how James Dolan gets to single-handedly fuck up pro basketball, hockey AND Penn Station for all New Yorkers. The system is clearly running flawlessly.
