Born and raised here. Made a list of restaurants to try for cousins visiting pre covid. I think they all are still open. This is not in a particular order just places I think are staples of the NY restaurant scene. I’ve tried maybe 70 percent of this list and have found 0 places I don’t like. They’re spread out the city covering every borough not just Manhattan.

Reply to Growing up in the city: by [deleted]
I loved it, specifically not needing a car makes being a teenager in NYC way more liberating than most other places. As soon as your parents trust you not to die you can kinda do what you want. Even at 13-14 you can just meet up with friends in your neighborhood and wander around and do whatever.
My high school was small but public, and they’d call your parents if you didn’t show so it made skipping harder but I never really had an inclination to skip.

I grew up in Sf and my dad is a journalist. He did a story about these things. The issue is, they're used for shooting up heroin and break so easily. Portland is not a model we should follow

A Democrat House wouldn't do another MTA bailout either, or else they would've already done it in the $1.7T December spending bill.

I understand that, my point is that unoccupied property should have a higher tax rate or an additional tax.
If a commercial space is occupied by a company, it generate tax revenue on the money it makes and the income its employees get paid. If, however, the commercial space is unoccupied it does not generate that revenue so the owner should have to pay additional taxes to make up for that.

You think that New York impeached Trump?
I'm sorry that a family of criminal grifters facing the consequences of their actions makes you so sad. We prefer people that actually pay their taxes in New York, rather than leaches.

Eliminating Staten Island doesn’t exactly narrow down your options a whole lot.

New York had a native who was a builder as president. They declared war on him, impeached him, took his property, took his name off buildings, went after his children, disrespected his wife. Screw them. They don’t deserve a single penny from the people.

Yup, just going to continue to push more people to use cars. The current level of service probably isn’t sustainable with the 60-70% ridership that’s been going on since the pandemic.

Breeders do not usually abuse cats… otherwise the animals would not be able to successfully carry kittens, which is the whole point of breeding. Also, unusual for breeders to focus on domestic shorthairs rather some popular expensive breeds like ragdolls, British shorthairs, or Maine coons

You said absolutely nothing at all of any substance. My previous comments stand. Go be loud, wrong, and angry somewhere else. I'm not going to engage with a seriously ignorant individual who keeps trying to move the goal posts to obtain a moral high ground that doesn't exist. I've made my statements very clear on every topic and I stand by every statement. Have a good one.

Bring back the 80s, when the MTA slashed their maintenance budget, and trains starts failing. It’s not the cuts in service you need to worry about. It’s the service disruptions. Train stalled on the track during rush hour, good luck getting home in the next hour.

How horrible! I haven't read anything in any local FB groups. I went to PKNYC ig to read more about it so I could post in some groups... The footage they have is so tragic, those poor kitties!
Edit- I tried to post about it in a Richmond Hill FB group and my post was declined. :(

> But the overall budget to buy and install five Portland Loos, in one pilot location in each borough, starting as early as summer 2024, could reach as much as $5.3 million.
1 million per loo. Not even counting operation/maintenance costs.
And I naively thought that 5k per homesless shelter bed per month was too expensive.
