No, but I imagine they will be unaffordable for most people just like every other new apartment in this city

As a person who’s not from NYC, y’all deserve to complain about the city government. Your leaders are beholden to the interests of tourists and foreign investors.

Weird how the government only caters to and forgives rich people and capital owners in our society. Almost like it's all rigged in their favor...

I’m biased as this would preserve my views better than yet another monolith, but I like it. The neighborhood could use some open space. And we certainly have no use for millions of sq ft of office space right now.

Reply to comment by Astatine_209 in After City Bans Sleeping at Homeless Youth Centers, a Center Resists (Archived link below in Comments) by irish_fellow_nyc
Youth shelters are in many ways different from the public shelters adults typically go to. The only NYC youth shelter I know of is Covenant House a few blocks from the PABT. Only stayed a couple months as a kid and still have PTSD from my time there. Would rather risk it on the streets or nap in drop in centers, parks, and the couches at the flagship Macy’s store.
If I couldn’t sleep at day shelters like I did then I have no idea how I would have survived. SO many predators in youth shelters…

The same people who are outraged Google will pay them less in Alabama have no problem paying Indians or Romanians a fraction
The more fully remote becomes palatable, the easier it becomes for companies to partially off shore work
And this isn’t even shitting on offshore workers, I’m sure there are plenty that are smarter than my coworkers

Lol, do you know know how mortgages work, stupid? Let me teach you a "pro tip", you can get a mortgage to buy a home that is worth more than your current net worth.
>And no it isn't affordable for sone9ne on that salary
Biden and his wife made around 350k combined per year for decades. She's a PHD, makes around 100k per year. And again....MORTGAGES!
And they bought the beach home AFTER they made 16,596,979 on their book deal. So yeah, not only is that home affordable as a senator who isn't bad with money, it's easily affordable after his book earnings.
He also bought a place for 185,000 in the 70s and sold it in 1995 for 1.2 million after fixing it up.
His other home he bought for 350k, and then built on the land.
So serious question, are you stupid or just really, really gullible? How is it you think he's stealing billions? What is he spending it on? You literally called his 0.34 acre beach house a "compound" when I could walk the entire property in 30 seconds and look it up on Zillow. How did you get this gullible? Was it facebook?

You could easily change the size of the dimensions of the sign to make all the signs symetrical. Seems like an honest mistake.

You keep saying it's ridiculous, silly, childish, without giving any real reasons why blue collar laborers shouldn't seek cash compensation for a benefit (remote work) that they can't receive but more educated workers do. I feel like you're seeing a zero-sum game between blue- and white-collar workers where it doesn't exist. If they get more compensation for working in person, how does that harm you? You are very obviously not a blue collar worker, so why do you care if they make more money?

My favorite part is the hard right turn at the bottom of the hill going under an overpass, right before exit 6 I think. I never go into that parallel with another car.

Oh, I was responding more to the general idea that remote workers should be compensated the same as in-person, not so much for city agencies.

In software, outsourcing usually means writing something twice and paying two sets of engineers.
”Near shoring“ is becoming a lot more common—using workers from CA/Latin America but keeping them more closely integrated with their US counterparts.
