Innocent until proven guilty, which means - "you" can't be deprived of "your" liberty just because "you" are dating a policeman's ex-girlfriend.

Bail is not punishment.

It is the rightful exchange of equity for process time. If a person, "you" cannot afford bail, it is not "your" problem that the government needs time to prove "you" guilty.

If "you" are not an imminent threat to "your" community, the court "must" forgo bail. If you don't have a record of criminal activity, if you show up each time for hearings, if you pay your fines, "you" should not be forced to post bail.

This might be a longshot or totally wrong altogether but I took the train to Scarsdale yesterday and when I got off the train, i was sending out some emails while eating on the bench and a young asian guy came up to me and started talking to me. I didn't take a good look at him because I was doing stuff/still in "nyc don't talk to me" mode but he kinda looked like the picture. It seemed like he had some developmental disabilities or mental health issues. He was pushing a shopping cart and said his name was Peter and he was born in 1987. I thought it was kind of odd that he was out on his own just engaging with random people, but he struck up conversation with someone before me and started talking to some women walking their dogs right after me. I just assumed he was a local that all the other locals know. Maybe call Scarsdale police and ask if they know about Peter?

My point was taxes on cars, like congestion charges, are not comparable in purpose to taxes on streaming, as far as I can surmise, unless there's a reason we should discourage streaming services.

In the former case, we want to discourage a behavior (diving in Manhattan). In the latter, it seems to be more about raising money

I am a citizen and I vote. That's still my right, yes?

So you're in favor of nameless unexcited out of area bureaucrats setting standards for places of which they know nothing. It sounds like what Moses did to the Bronx when he put a highway through the place.

Yeo. It works really well to have. system like that. /s

I saved and scrimped and bought a shitty dump and lived crowded with my kids in an iffy area, and worked my ass off to improve the property. I later sold, taking the profit to enable purchase of a better property. No government programs assisted me! My parents were retired for 12 years and were on a fixed income. No help there, either!

I didn't look to the government and don't want to be taxed for something that isn't a necessity. Some people rent. They always have. You can't possibly suggest that everyone should be a private homeowner, so what gives?
