Rodent violations are not evidence that they cook rats into food.

True this doesn’t factor the bonus which recently went away. This plots the base fare only. Do you know where I might find info on the bonus history? Regardless I doubt it would make much difference.
Edit: thanks everyone. I’ll try to add this to see if it makes a material difference.

This story is the equivalent of one of those white grandpas in the south calling the news because some Antifa wrote "Black People Rule" on their garage. Or that lady who carved a B into her face and claimed a gang of Obama supporters robbed and assaulted her.

>I find it very hard to believe the couple went to trouble of finding a rat, cooking it just to swindle some cash from a restaurant.
Interesting because that is always how these rat/mouse in food stories end up.
Which is more likely? That a scammer pulled a common scam? Or that someone didn't notice they cooked a rat? Or spooned out a rat? We already know the answer.

Was it ever confirmed that Tom Petty died from fent-laced pressies? Tox reports state he had multiple drugs in his system, including fentanyl, oxycodone, and various benzos/ssris. But he could’ve had a legit script and just accidentally took too much. It happens. I’d rather not spread misinformation unless it’s 100% certain.
Edit - also, yes. Harm reduction is key. The various non-profits that engage in this throughout the city are doing great work, keep it up!

This! I have a 300 sf "cozy garden" that is a true utopia. I've never seen a rat and I enjoy cleaning and maintaining all aspects of the garden. The best part is being able to have a Big Green Egg out there.

Having rat droppings in a restaurant is bad. But that doesn't make it logical that someone would cook a mouse or rat and it end up in a soup. It's highly unlikely.

To caveat, however, there have been several times when there has been a bonus on the fare. Up until a couple years ago, you used to get an extra 5% when you put money on your metrocard, so the fare has essentially gone up more recently than that. The cost of unlimited metrocards and MNR/LIRR fares also increased.

The cost of everything has gone up, and now there are a third fewer daily riders.
One of the biggest factors is debt. The MTA pays for all their capital improvements with debt, which has to be repaid. And right now, when interests rates are high, that debt costs a lot more.

I think when a viral photo of a rat in soup goes out you go to the inspection with intentions of a shutdown if things aren’t perfect. If I was this owner and I knew my kitchen was dirty, I would’ve started cleaning my restaurant as soon as this went viral

LITERALLY this part.
Mac Miller died from pressies as well.
Let's not forget many celebrities use middlemen to acquire their drugs - Rx or otherwise - and like border said - if you didn't pick it up at the pharmacy yourself - you don't *really* actually know.
Then there's the whole level of people knowing the pills are fake/pressies and not actually caring ("I knew the perc was fake but I still ate it cause I'm a gremlin")
If you're gonna use powder and pills - PLEASE test them.

OP here, just posting the data as I thought it was interesting. The current fare of $2.75 has been in place for nearly 8 years, which is the third longest stretch. The initial fare of $0.05 was in place for over 44 years and there was a 13 year stretch in the 50s and 60s with a $0.15 fare.

Omg I remember that. Hahaha it was kinda funny though.
But seriously considering how easy it is to get an A grade...a place with a C is one tiny step above spreading botulism

There’s a lot of sarcasm in here, but 2021 and 2022 summers were wildly different for rats. I had a crown heights yard (same one) both years. First year my dog caught about 25 rats but I was able to garden largely without disruption. Last summer they decimated my garden and my dogs could barely catch them. They outsmarted traps (the entire trap would literally go missing, lost about 8 traps this way). It was awful.
I moved to a place with a large terrace now.
