I respect the fact that an investigation takes time and that a case must be thoroughly investigated, but this is a long time coming. The fact that members of Bragg's staff who were assigned to the case resigned from their jobs during the investigation is like rats leaving a ship- not a good sign that it's a strong case. The star witnesses (a crooked lawyer and a porn star) aren't exactly pillars of the community, which doesn't help. The fact that Tish James didn't do anything either is also a sign that this is no slam dunk.
If it fails, at a certain point, it's going to seem like a witch hunt if they don't get something to stick.

So weird that the NYS Legislature can't change Federal laws.

Meanwhile, the mayor's office seems to be cutting overtime for the other city agencies

The problem is, that in our system, crimes must be proven in a court of law. They can't seem to get that part down.

Depends on what you are into, Manhattan still has most of the larger clubs but Brooklyn has spots that are more fun and up and coming. The nightlife scene is alive and well, but everything is a bit less safe after around 10 or 11PM, from the subway to the streets.

Are you saying that EVs don't cause congestion?

Yet another toll that's going to unfairly burden poor people. If it thins traffic in Lower Manhattan the bulk of cars and trucks going to LI will be pushed to Harlem and the Bronx.

I remember 15+ years ago in OG southern Brooklyn where there used to be 10 pizzerias within a mile they were already charging $1.50 a slice.

I assume these places will stop taking cards (or impose minimums or surcharges) as soon as the pandemic is sufficiently past, since merchant fees are a significant cost at their cheap prices and low margins. I would usually pay that kind of place in cash especially if I am not buying a large order, unless I don’t have the cash at the moment. But I usually carry cash just like before the pandemic. For things like Starbucks, of course they can eat the card fees no problem so I’d even buy a snack or a flavored water with a card from them.

Stupid, or dangerous and destructive. Blocking traffic and pissing everyone off is one thing, so is getting rowdy at a protest, but hopefully these idiots keep their guns at home.

NYC didn't vote for this. This is being hoisted on the city by the State. Here's hoping it keeps getting delayed and maybe even outright cancelled.

Naw that's already been factored into the equation. I'm talking about violence or destruction of property. Basically something that someone in a position of authority can use to divert funds or increase surveillance of certain political enemies.

No it was the result of negotiations with the city.
The city wanted low starting salaries in exchange for any raises.
The pba wasnt out here protesting for 42k salaries
