What? Ambulance chasers? Frivolous lawsuits? A policy of settling quietly rather than litigating? A jury pool that has bias against police and/or sees lawsuits as a type of lottery? Not here! Never! /s

CNN is becoming akin to Fox- a narrative spinner. That said, those dudes quit right after the disastrous laughingstock Kyle Rittenhouse trial, where the prosecutors became internationally synonymous with ineptness and failed prosecutorial over-reach (because the were pressured to bring a weak case). Anyway, let's see how the case plays out.

I think you mistyped "paid by the hour consultants".

People can have two different thoughts at the same time. If that's hard for some, maybe Prevagen will help (or kill them...whichever).

My problem with these is that like with most other services, the work is contracted out to consulting firms. Sometimes this makes sense, the city used a danish firm for the Cloudburst program due to their track record in Copenhagen, and sometimes we'd be better off with an in house assessment. The lack of oversight and long leash NYC gives contractors is astounding

Brakes are consumed at a lower rate compared to ICE cars of a similar weight( Evs are usually heavier) because of regenerative braking

A lawsuit is not the same as a criminal trial the amount of evidence needed to find someone guilty in a civil case is much lower than that of a criminal trial. Civil court you are found guilty based on a preponderance of evidence which means something is more likely than not. Criminal trials guilt is found without a reasonable doubt which means it is absolute. Think about the OJ Simpson trial he was found innocent in criminal court yet found to be liable for damages when he was taken to civil court. So a police officer can not be fired if found liable in a civil case because the evidence is not found without a reasonable doubt.
While I'm sure we'd all love to see a bad cop fired it sets bad legal precedent to do it since that judgement can now be ruled in other cases not even involving police misconduct.

Lmao crime rates are near historic lows for the city, even with the spike caused by covid. You’re just fearmongering to keep the police from being held accountable. Either that or you genuinely like the taste of boots.

It’s public information. Every time there’s a police involved shooting, the media is all over it. Each and every day, all you hear is people getting shot or stabbed. People killing each other. Where’s the protest the against the violence in the community? Kids can’t get out of school without getting shot at or stabbed. People can’t go out to the corner store without getting shot by before a nearby gang shooting because of some silly grudge. People can’t go to work on the train without seeing fights in the train car.

The NYPD's sex crime unit is actually currently under federal investigation. They failed to perform basic investigations, misreported sexual assaults as less serious crimes or intimidated/coerced victims into not reporting their sexual assaults because the detectives wanted to cash their paychecks without doing any actual work.

I notice Adams has done nothing to address this. I guess attempting to lower the crime rate doesn't include sex crimes.
All of this detectives should be charged for OT fraud and defrauding taxpayers since they happily collected their salary while refusing to do basic work. What the fuck were they doing instead of working???
