They aren't buying for any of those, it's just an investment. You're overthinking this. Ken griffin doesn't give two shits what other billionaires think about his property, he just believes that 220cps is a good investment, and whether or not he lives there, it has been a good investment. Property is a great place to park money, all things considered.

My friends and I would climb down to the train tracks and put coins on it for the train to press. Did it a few times in jr high & HS. Mentioned it to my mom in my mid-forties and she turned pale and yelled at me. I thought I would be safe, like a statute of limitations - was kind of glad to go home after that. Never going to tell her the other stupid stuff I did as a kid.
