Yep. Last time the city/state had a decent voucher system a few decades ago, the housing crisis wasn’t nearly this bad. Landlords were at least open to it because they didn’t have dozens of well-qualified applicants with decent jobs beating down their doors.

Now you can get 50 people lining up for a single apartment viewing and they all have good income and checkbooks ready.

And those funds were used to educate children. The Board of Ed is riddled with grifters at all levels, a company with basic financial controls and discipline can make a substantive profit educating children. Once again.

The Catholic High Schools educate their kids at 1/3rd and the grade schools at 1/4th of what we spend on public school students.

As a latin immigrant who grew up in this city, I got to see things as an outsider. And the most openly racist people I have known or been friends with were all black. Not like 'oh, here's some ignorant thoughts I have' kind of racists(although they were that too), but like standing in the middle of a street or surrounded by people and hurling racial slurs at people and not caring at all
