They should keep it and restore it. Looks nicer and helps prevent speeding.

At that point, just jump the turnstile. The few times i’ve hopped it is because the turnstile would take the money off my Metrocard and not let me through.

Whatever the reason, “public restroom” is a much better descriptor than “comfort station.”

Makes sense, I've got plenty of pics I've taken over the many years I could do. What's plain air paint?

It’s the full phrase. CTRL+F “station” in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comfort_women
edit: did downvoting change history? nope. “comfort women” were kept at “comfort stations.” it’s not just the word “comfort” that they have in common.

I love the praise but I'm gonna be real I took a picture and painted it at home lmao
I do plein air paint though! A bit hard to do that inside a bar with drunk elbows everywhere

Damn that's cool that they let you sit there and paint! How long were you there and it must he tough capturing the people talking because they are constantly moving. Wow, years of practice all right here, this is so cool. I wanna learn how to do this and paint my surroundings
ComeOnPelicanFly t1_je4yctz wrote
Is the only actual link they’re making here the fact that both terms have the word “comfort” in them?

That's not technically cobblestone. Edit- the streets are paved with gold...thank you for the Gold!

I feel for the kids at risk. First you've got morons for parents, then you get polio as a result. Hoping for the best for them.

I just ran past this yesterday evening and noticed. I was genuinely surprised to see it, and it’s really cool. Kind of wish they kept these, honestly. Drivers would be much less likely to speed methinks.

Historically those main halls were nothing but benches for people waiting for trains to pull in / tracks to be announced. Including GCT
Pulling all the benches out (and designing for NO sitting space at all) is a fairly recent thing

They were tearing up my street on Monday night at like 11 pm. Bc, according to the DOT, doing it at night prevents traffic buildup. SURE

This is a process called asphalt milling. It is part of the regular maintenance in our street system. This is usually in preparation for fresh pavement. It's not all going to happen at once.
You can view the schedule online.

There is nothing sad about this.
