not to mention scarsdale isn't built for this kind of infrastructure. the traffic on post road or palmer avenue is bad enough as it is. Some sections only have one side of a sidewalk (guess where the snow plows put the snow?) Then you have white plains which is more urban so you're going to have this high density urban area surrounded by suburbs with roads that can't handle the increased traffic of personal vehicles which would be needed to go to nearby stores and it's just a recipe for a disaster. Scarsdale is rich town with a village aesthetic. just dropping an apartment tower in the middle of it isn't going to work.

Especially when All Westchester seems to focus on is high rise luxury condos. Look what they did to the south broadway area in Yonkers. They pushed out all the lower income people near the metro north station and put up ridiculously priced condos to attract the 'my daddy owns a dealership' Brooklynites because it's one train ride away from the city.

I’ve always loved cities, loud and noisy and alive. NYC just had an energy to it that I can’t get enough off. I’ve been a few times, and done/seen all the touristy stuff, but also just walked around and explored quieter areas. The people, the architecture, the multiculturalism, the food, all stand out in my memories of NYC. I’ve been to Paris, and also loved that, but they are two very different animals. NYC is much more alive. I’m very into art and history and both NYC and Paris have an abundance of that, which is probably one of the main reasons they call to me.

When you've got guys putting in for overtime they never worked, it's the same as stealing.

Or my new favorite, how the MTA is missing millions of dollars in car parts. As if the employees didn't take them home or the mechanics didn't use them to repair their own cars or their friends cars. They just can't find thousands of parts.

The downvotes on this comment are unfortunate. This comment itself isn’t antivax conspiracy.

Vaccine derived polio is possible in places where OPV vaccines were predominant but coverage isn’t good. US stopped doing OPV in 2000. Other countries still use OPV due to its convenience.

The plan Hochul proposed would also impact the city and force it to build more housing as well.

This housing shortage is so severe that it really shouldn’t be an either/or thing.

According to the article, Scarsdale hasn’t increased its housing supply since 1990. Why is the state financially supporting Scarsdale’s infrastructure if it’s not doing anything to help with the statewide housing crisis?

>If race is a social construct as you say, then having a seminar on a racial construct ("whiteness") is absurd;

Economics is a social construct. Ethics are a social construct. Business is a social construct. If all of these justify seminars, then why shouldn't the construct of whiteness? How else shall it be deconstructed?

>having a woman of hispanic heritage (which in itself defies racial categorization, as Mark Texiera,A/Rod and Big Papa Ortiz are all "Latin")

In addition to being of Greek heritage I'm also of Hispanic heritage, so let me say it bluntly; "Hispanic" is not a race. It's an ethnolinguistic group. There are Hispanic people across the globe with ancestry from Europe, Africa, the Americas, East Asia, the Middle East, and countless others. And Hispanic and Latino are also different concepts; A Spaniard is Hispanic without being Latino, a Brazilian is Latino without being Hispanic. Someone is Hispanic if they have ancestry in a Spanish-speaking country, someone is Latino if they have ancestry that includes a Romance language speaking population of the Americas (yes, that includes the Quebecois and Haitians; it's not about race). Saying someone is "Hispanic" says about as much about their ancestry as saying someone is "Anglophone."

>Suggesting that "whiteness" is somehow pernicious is an absurdity.

Whiteness is, itself, an absurdity; it has no basis in reality, but exists solely as a meme. But you and I both know memes can be pernicious.
