That's the only reason they legalized it. So if that's the incentive, then they need to issue licenses quickly. Instead, they show their incompetence and go after shops providing the product.

You had a balcony?! We just had windows that were jammed and wouldn’t open.

There is a ~15 story building there currently. I used to live there.

I used to live in the current building at that address. It’s student and employee housing for the hospital and Cornell medical school. It’s currently like 15 or so stories already (I think, we lived on the 13th fl) so, I don’t really understand what the uproar is all about. It’s not like there was a park or a historic low rise there currently. It’s already a big ugly building, they just want to make it bigger and uglier, probably.

There are many places in Manhattan not dominated by tall buildings. That said, the hypocrites should not expect the city to stand still for their own selfish benefit.

So to avoid the appearance of a politicized prosecution, they are making a politicized decision NOT to prosecute. Makes less than zero sense to me, but I suppose I agree it could be the explanation.

Different political priorities and considerations, I’d assume. If SDNY were to bring charges, it’d basically be Biden prosecuting his own predecessor, and that may not be something Biden wants to do. It looks more like Biden using the federal courts against a direct political rival, as opposed to Bragg, who certainly has different politics than Trump but isn’t a direct opponent.

Resident/fellow housing, it’s my old building. RIP 16J, you were a good though very basic apartment for a year.
I assume they’ll just make residents find their own housing now. We weren’t even sure until about a month before moving if we were going to get one, I was panic apartment shopping.

Anyone seen good coverage for why the SDNY USAO didn't pursue this case? They won this exact case against Michael Cohen, why wouldn't they follow up with Trump himself?

Population count is not the same as well in a borough. Brooklyn is the largest borough but Manhattan has the most millionaires in billionaires. Not working in an office in Manhattan is not the reason why people in Brooklyn and Queens are having issues affording to live here.

>Still as I look out my window
And your window blocked someone else's when it was built :)
Depending how old your building is, that person may be dead. Maybe even their children are dead.

I lived one block from this for 14 years until 7 months ago. This was my main subway station. I barely even recognize it, but it’s a good taste of home.

I already have enough gold coins, and derive the bulk of my self esteem from the simple fact that most other people do not. I am 100% against such a fountain and I will spend all my gold coins fighting against it if necessary.

Fewer job opportunities obviously affects affordability. There are two sides to the equation. The cost of living and the income to live there.
