What’s difficult, apparently, is understanding the difference between post-conviction sentencing and pre-conviction bail. Bail only involves people who have not yet been convicted - that is, who are presumed innocent of any crimes at the stage of the process we’re talking about. That presumption has to be accounted for in any discussion of pre-trial detention.

People complaining about this are ridiculous. It would rise to $17.25/hour next year. That's $35,880/year, IF you can get 40 hours per week all year long at a minimum wage job. In NYC, that already precludes you from living alone. That level income requires a roommate even in the shittiest parts of the city. And you're not going to be able to save shit - so good luck moving if you need to pay 1st month and a security deposit.

Don't worry, Starbuck's is already paying this much, so the increase won't be responsible for raising the price of your caramel macchiato. The price might go up anyway, but it won't be because of this.

I am sad because now they are closing my entrance because that one is open. Will add another 10 minutes to my commute. I’ve lived at 181 for 3.5 years and that station has been under construction the entire time. I plan to move at the end of the year and I expect I will have lived at that stop for 4 years and it will not have been completely functional that entire time.

Talk about timing. I was just complaining about how I’m getting bored of paying $3.75 for a medium coffee in Manhattan. Is there any way I can routinely pay $4.50 for a medium drip coffee and maybe $7 for a latte?

The environmental review has showed that pollution will worsen in the Bronx (and Staten Island). Doesn't seem fair for the bronx to take the brunt of this
