They're saying the only option is to accept a "credit" on my account:
"We need to confirm the funds cleared our account first. Afterwards, I would issue a check refund. However, I mail the check to the owner's -- office for his signature and then he mails the check to you. It will take approximately 2-3 weeks before you receive it. Therefore, I would suggest asking your bank for a Stop Payment and then paying the correct rent amount or, if you're able, leaving the credit on your ledger to be applied to March rent. "

My bank seems to offer stop payments for checks for a $32 fee but this is an ACH transfer. Does anyone know how this would work or what to do here? It seems like the only option is to let them collect my our rent a month early? I'm also not even sure how we're going to handle being 2k short this month.

Edit: I followed the advice in the thread and contacted my credit union about an unauthorized ACH transfer. The extra $2k charge made the transaction unauthorized, or more specifically on the form: "my account was debited for an amount different than I authorized". I'll edit again when we get access to the money for anyone that has to deal with this in the future and happens upon this post.
