Hi, I live in a walkable city so I do not own a car or personal car insurance. I was renting a car through Hertz for 34 days to work remotely elsewhere, when I was involved in a car accident where I am primarily at fault (I was taking a left turn and there was a collision with the oncoming vehicle; I did not see the oncoming vehicle quickly enough since it was likely speeding and the area has undulating hills). All parties involved thankfully are totally okay and only a bit shocked, and the other vehicle was left largely unscathed with only a large scratch and a broken side mirror. My vehicle unfortunately suffered major damage and wasn't in driveable condition; I had to go through Hertz to schedule a tow truck and get another replacement rental car.

I did not purchase CDW through Hertz because I thought I had primary insurance through my Capital One Venture X credit card, but I now found out that the Venture X only covers rentals for up to 15 days in the US.

Do I have any options apart from coughing up whatever horrifying bill I will be receiving from Hertz soon? Thanks!

Edit: Seems I have no other options :( RIP
