I live near KOP and I absolutely do not understand it. KOP is the least walkable suburb of Philly by a LARGE margin. Sidewalks dead end, there’s 6 lane highways with no crosswalks, everything is really spread out, truly terrible. Adding public transit doesn’t really seem to make a bunch of sense, unless people will be parking and riding into the city.

Weirdly both the statement that Plymouth Meeting Mall has "shuttered" and that it "remains open in its original format" are wrong.

It's clearly shifted away from a traditional retail mall to a mixed-use center, with a gym, dining and other non-traditional goods retail taking substantial space (Dave and Buster's, Whole Foods).

Although I guess the Church on the Mall is still there, so maybe that's what makes it the "original format," since that's pretty original.

What about all the folks that still have to deal with 76 then? Ugh.

Edit: low ridership estimates? why would people that commute to KOP not use it if it did exist??? Who really likes driving that much to sit on 76 twice a day?

Thanks for the fucking downvotes those that have downvoted, grr.

Pretty sure religious jawns are one of the exceptions under the code.

Edit: Yep:

§ 10-403. Prohibited Conduct. 85

* * *

(13) Exemptions. 86 The provisions of this Section shall not apply to the following:
(d) Sounds lasting no more than 5 minutes in any one hour created by bells, chimes, carillons, or the human voice, or by electronic or mechanical devices that reproduce such sounds, while used in connection with a religious institution;

Question: Does this also apply to churches? I live on a main road across the street from a church who rings their bells at 8am, 12pm, 4(ish?)pm, and 6pm every single day for about a half hour each time they do it. Weekends included. What's weird is I've been living in the house for about 5 years now and they started doing it around late summer '22. They're so loud that it even drowns out my tv at full volume with me standing directly in front of it.

we wrote them an email kindly asking to stop as its disturbing at a ridiculous level but the response we got was basically a polite "Go fuck yourself"

I'd imagine with that attitude they must be protected in someway so I've just been dealing with it. But a solution to this would be heaven

A perfect example of what I was talking about above with regards to people's perception of Center City/shopping there. I can speak to its conditions at great length being there daily. Meanwhile my own perception of your area is that it's not good, based on Reddit and the news but little actual experience. The only difference is, I'm open to being educated on what I don't know instead of doubling down on it and labeling you.

I would tear down all of the obviously abandoned houses and make sure the empty lots are treated for lead in the soil so they're all available for anyone with a green thumb who wants to urban farm the land. While the teams are out working on the various properties, I would spend my time creating a digital map of all the newly available garden locations and work with folx like Sankofa Farms to share the map.
