I’m gonna continue to risk injury and death by not driving a car around other cars and instead ride one of the listed things, or a motorcycle. Someone’s got to get out there and go against the grain of always using cars…
I’ve already got titanium in both legs from being hit on the sidewalk inside the city, rolling the dice on more medical repairs, fuck it.

This is dumb. Broad street is a snow emergency route and state route. They will be removed no matter what

But then you have own a car: Insurance, parking, gas, and regular maintenance costs, plus state fees like relicensing or renewing your registration.
And, that's if you're lucky enough to not get sideswiped or have shit thrown at your car... or get a ticket.

Every time I go back through WRTC, it has been worse. 5-6 years ago there were benches and people would sleep in front of the exhaust vents for the west headhouse.
They have just been slowly removing more stuff and putting barriers around everything to make it suck even more. It's the single most hostile place I've been to.

L&I department specifically is a hot mess (not saying that other city departments don’t have their issues). Bad upper management, poor worker retention and too little new hiring means not enough inspectors that can actually come out to enforce codes. Even other city departments have trouble getting them to help with enforcement for issues when it’s their responsibility.

This guy lives in a nice neighborhood, I'd like to see someone in Southwest Philly call in a noise complaint and have somebody show up with a decibel meter.

Haven't had to do the old Walter Rand transfer since my then boyfriend lived in Cinnaminson 8+ years ago and I was cruising the Riverline often but god I do not miss it. Makes Septa look good by comparison.

The people who enforce the laws about noise ordinances are not taking any resources from those who should be keeping our streets safer, schools better, or housing more available. It's not one or the other.

Doubt. Average age of first child is like 28 now in the US. People are waiting way later if they’re having any at all. I’m cusp years (26-27) and my friends aren’t fleeing for kids. They’re just tired of dealing with city bullshit. Some do have dogs and having a yard is nice.

Everyone from Rhawnhurst (however few of us that may be) knows this, but demolish that hookah bar by Castor and Rhawn, and the Albanian Cafe with the jet black windows and steel door on Buselton by Farrell Elementary because those establishments are nothing but trouble.

One of the proposed stations (Allendale) will be literally attached to the mall?

They seem nice, I just haven’t spent enough time in those areas to know if they’re walkable enough for someone moving from NYC. Usually I’m just driving through.

I agree with everything you said except for extending the patco. There truly is no reason to do so. It’s not worth the cost because people taking patco going in that direction can just transfer at 8th and market.

While I largely agree, we both know that isn't a workable solution for a number of folks. To further complicate matters, the entire area is a car-focused death trap for pedestrians or anyone not in a car.
While there are some nearby offices, there are a lot that are a few miles away from the mall and that creates its own problem.
So it could be a great catalyst long-term, but that would really require Montgomery County to really change their zoning laws and focus on more pedestrian-focused solutions.

I mean I was saying this in 2012. Philly looked up and coming and very trendy then, especially neighborhoods like fish town and NL, but none of those young professionals were gonna plant real roots bc as soon as they start to want having kids they’d take one look at the school situation and fuck the hell off back to the suburbs.
That’s what me and my wife did at the time, and she lived there for like 10 years. I worked at the navy yard then, and would have loved to live in the city, but not with a kid going to school in 5 years
