If you like craft beer, Richmond is a great weekend trip, several world class breweries, some history, a nice art museum. Scotts addition is the main brewery/nightlife area

5 hours by amtrak, 2 to dc, 1hour engine swap in dc, 2 hours to Richmond.

Driving is highly variable, my record is 3.5 hours, but its been over 6 as well.

Unfortunately a driving city, so prepare to uber a bunch.

YES. You don't go trashing a city, flipping cars that people use their hard earned money to buy so that they can go to work and school, destroying the streets with trash, piss, shit, and vomit, beer cans, bottles, etc... and just get yelled at by a judge and fined. You make people regret what they did by having them CLEAN UP THEIR MESS OR GO TO JAIL. If they don't like it, then they should not have done it.

Ugh the stroller struggle is very real, but usually something temporary. I can tell you that on the other side of it, I am truly actively grateful for NOT having to push a stroller, and so that is at least the slim silver lining.

I second VA wine country and/or Shenandoah National Park. Tons of rentals, some of which are remote/in the mountains that you need 4WD to get to the property (or sometimes the owner will haul you and your stuff in their 4WD!)
