There is certainly hard-work and debt that is put into it but most doctors in the US are part of the top 1% in terms of wealth. They are compensated very well. Medicine pays much more in the US than comparable European countries.

yeah I spent a lot of years being a "bad kid" but compared to this, I was an angel. My bad kid days were spent cutting school, smoking pot, and drinking beers in the woods. I never destroyed property because I was terrified of being on the receiving end of a whoopin from my parents, which if I think about it, was far worse than being in jail

Weird because the guys in my neighborhood in Brewerytown pick everything up and put the lid next to the empty recycling can. It’s like we must have different crews in different neighborhoods!

Oh I know. My partner is a DO and I've heard plenty about the hospital administrators and the... ahem... vital work they do for the hospital.
In this country we always have money for two things: bombs, and paying administrators to spend all day in meetings, justifying the need for their own positions.
