It’s sounds like he’s already been to other neurologists from your post, so I’ll add you should be asking for a “second opinion” appointment, might be faster to get one of those than a new patient visit. Be prepared to have all prior test results and after visit summaries on hand as often they want to review everything prior to your consult.

It's harder than it looks. Plus, there's a shitload of generational trauma rippling through, especially if your parents were born close to postwar (say up until about the early '60s). Hell, my dad literally told my mom that she was going to have to handle the kids because he "had no idea how to be a parent."

Best we can do is try to avoid the same mistakes with the next generation and give our parents what grace we can for their transgressions.

I went the other route there, seeing a dozen failed relationships and how shitty kids can be treated made me never want kids or a wife. I'm 36 with no interest in relationships with other people for the most part. Which I'm sure is some form of depression. Idk. The upside is that it taught me to be better to people than my parents were.

I work in another neurology group in the city, and just want to add you’re not looking for the best Neurologist at Penn, you’re looking for the best ALS neurologist at Penn. Not trying to be pedantic but there are many sub-specialties in Neurology and “the best overall neurologist” might not even specialize in ALS, which is a type of neuromuscular disorder. I think Lauren Elman might be a good place to start though.

Agreed. I ride Paoli-Thorndale twice a day for work, and I like coming into the city on the weekends to visit friends, spend my money, etc. I wish Septa would make it easier to return home instead of making it feel like I have a curfew. Missing a train and needing to wait at least an hour, or missing the last train and needing to use a costlier option like Lyft, stinks.

Impressive but only if completed sans front-facing camera. Otherwise it's cheating.

Also, if you're gonna park like that, you've gotta be comfortable with the fact that there's gonna be some contact when the Jeep goes to leave. Just cause you're the Criss Angel Mindfreak of parking doesn't mean everyone else is going to hold themselves to the same standard.

Why is our story so common, it’s really not hard being a half decent parent. I have depression and I believe it’s because I’m disappointed being a good dad wasn’t harder. Like, why aren’t I craving meth and alcohol, why aren’t my wife and I beating each other to a pulp.
