Yep. Considering Fishtown is one gigantic construction project right now, between the trucks blocking crosswalks and the workers blocking/tearing up sidewalks (often simultaneously on both sides of the street!) sometimes it feels like babywearing is so much less of a hassle, not to mention safer... but then you're still walking in the middle of the fucking street... Pisses me off every day.

Love this building! It has such an interesting history. Raymond Pace Alexander, the first black Wharton graduate, carried out high profile civil rights litigation against the Aldine Theater shortly after getting his law degree from Harvard. He later had his law offices built across the street from the theater (the Alexander Building, which now houses Target).

I hate car culture and much of what you say is correct but unfortunately violent acts on the train (and the perception they cause) have nothing to do with car culture. They will drive (no pun intended) even the most committed urbanite back to cars or worse, the suburbs. The only thing that connects this to car culture is the fact that Septa is not adequately funded.
