I am aware of that, thanks. I pretty clearly articulated that I was commenting on people discussing things as though they are only problems here (“its so easy to become an innocent bystander in Philly”), as though it’s not the same elsewhere - hence me mentioning what’s happening in other places. I also said that OUR transit system needs to be fixed.

The city itself... not so much anymore.

Don't get me wrong, it will still be found there. It's just more in the upper-middle class "they absolutely are entitled to respect, equality, and equity - but I'd prefer that they receive those things somewhere else" kind of way

The "fully aware that they're racist assholes and don't give a fuck about making it known" types have been priced out to the south shore

Regulations are written in blood.

When you don't get a permit you own ALL the risk of the work. Redoing the facade requires a permit because most brick is structural. You can't simply re-lay brick and expect it to perform. You need to meet modern building code. (Same goes for stucco, siding, etc). If you fail to follow code you could have water and mold, poor workmanship with no recourse, or be fined heavily by the City.

If your home causes damage to anyone and you don't have a permit, you will be screwed if not dead because it killed you.
