Pepperoni is not an alternate name for salami, it's arguably either a specific kind of salami or an entirely distinct food, invented in America by Italian immigrants. Salami is made from cured pork, pepperoni can be either all pork or a blend of pork and beef. It's made with a different blend of spices from salami, most prominently the paprika that gives it a bright red color (and its name, that's the connection to the peperonici you were expecting). It's an extremely popular pizza topping and also used as a sandwich filling, usually in combination with other varieties of salami.

Yeah, it’s very weird how cow gained so much importance within Hinduism. I think years ago, animals were considered as currency in many cultures and given the Indian subcontinent’s climate, cow became an important domestic animal to have (helped with farming, provided milk, cow dung was used as manure and as a fuel source). I think that concept seeped into religion.

The modern usage of the word conservative doesn't align very well with historical political terms and I think it's best understood completely separately. When people talk about "conservatives" today, at least in North America, they are referring to people who want a strongman leader enforcing social hierarchies and protecting the ability of an arbitrary elite to dominate the less fortunate.

Historically this described nearly all political entities regardless of their other beliefs. Basically people have been absolutely horrible for most of recorded history.
