But my libertarian friends assure me that their metaphors about people using credit cards and global macroeconomics and government debt are perfectly reasonable and not at all childish oversimplifications.

It hasn't prevented any terrorist attacks that's for sure. Please tell me how the TSA would have stopped 9/11 exactly? Confiscating their fake bombs?

There is no struggle for the US gov to service the interest. The US gov is the issuer of all the US dollars, it's nothing more than key strokes to service the interest.

That's not true. The FBI and CIA investigate and gather intelligence with HUGE resources. They have authority throughout the country and across the planet. The TSA does not have that. The TSA is a deterrent. They don't foil plans because they don't investigate. They only act on what is in front of them. You don't seem to know what the TSA does.

Looks like they overshot the moon. I can relate to driving past my destination, but what a waste of tax dollars

He certainly palled around with them, and he supported Franco. But that shouldn’t be considered in evaluating his art. Ezra pound was a fascist but also a brilliant poet. Once we start considering an artist’s personal life or politics in evaluating the worth of their art there’s no stopping. We’d have to toss out everybody from Gauguin to Hemingway. I personally believe Dali’s painting to be laboriously over-dramatic, over-rated and a bit cornball, but not because of his politics.

From this perspective the moon is 45,000 miles away and the earth is much further at 268,000 miles away.
So yeah, things look smaller the further away they get.
