Ate at Tako -- highly recommend for their street corn -- and the coconut margaritas were amazing. Being not from Pittsburgh we cannot simply go back every Friday.
Does anyone know that recipe?

Coco Lopez sounds like a stripper. You bet your ass I'm putting that in my mouth
In my family it's a rule that we use this for pina coladas on vacation. Other cream of coconut products, like the one in the white squeeze bottle, are poor imitations.
I worked there. It’s something like 1 oz coco Lopez, 1 oz lime juice, 1 oz tequila. That’s what I was told by one of the bartenders. You could also play with the ratios.
Not far off! The important part is Coco Lopez specifically for the coconut cream and a bit of Demerara syrup. Don’t cheat yourself out of a whole drink’s worth of tequila, 1oz is too low. Lime stays as is, coco Lopez amount is equal to the tequila you use.
I’ve never been there or had it but I am so getting the stuff to make this.
Thanks. This makes so much more sense. I recall attempting the former ratios and ended up with 1.5 teq 1.5 coco but less lime. I guess the Demerara would help round it out, lessen the tartness of the lime?
Correct! Shaking it well and getting good water diluted into the mix is also very important.
I’m also not from Pittsburgh but visit for the Steelers every year. Tako is great and I completely agree about the street corn and coconut margaritas. I don’t know their recipe, but we’ve tried to recreate something similar, and this is what I make:
2 oz Blanco Tequila 1 oz Kalani Coconut Liqueur 1 oz Lime Juice 0.5 oz So Delicious Coconut Milk Salt
Play with the ratios to suit your taste.
visiting soon, will be checking this out. thanks for sharing here (:
Tako has been on my list to hit for awhile, and I just moved it to our going out dinner this week.
You put the lime in the coconut,& drink em' all up.

In addition to cream of coconut (Coco Lopez), they use Demerara syrup (you can make just a simple 2:1 syrup I think). Not sure on ratios because their coconut margaritas were in that perfect, not too sweet spot. A pinch of salt helps I’m sure.
Okay, I'm going off the thread here. Tako had excellent delicious tacos, maybe a little pricy but worth it
But their margaritas are out of a machine no actually mixed. So gross. I would expect that out of a $4 margarita well spot for undergrads, not a spot with a full bar and elevated street food
They definitely had a machine for frozen margaritas but the ones we had we watched them make (sitting at the bar) and we’re not frozen.
I bartend at tako torta and I spent an hour juicing limes this morning, specifically for margaritas! Everything is made fresh here
