So I’m a barista at a local coffee shop here in Pittsburgh. I’ve been doing this for many years, at a few different places. I get paid an okay wage I think. 13/hour plus tips. The job is fun, but I have noticed some trends when it comes to tipping or not tipping. I’d like to start out by saying your barista definitely knows when you don’t tip.
That little screen that asks you if you’d like to leave a tip or not let’s us know if you’ve tipped us just in case you ever wondered. Also, for you all that just tap and practically run away from the screen or pretend not to see it, we know what you’re doing. It’s cool, whatever but you’re not slick or anything. And yes, if you’re a regular that never tips we all know.
We don’t get bent out of shape when people don’t tip usually. It’s fine. But we see you and we do notice.
