True fact: the workers' tears are the source of the "fourth river," an artesian aquifer under the Point.

Yeah, that’s the norm. Punch passes are a good deal if you’re going infrequently, but a membership becomes worth it pretty fast.

Yeah $800 is pretty typical. I’ve never been to ICB but ascend is the same setup- if you have a daypass/membership you get access to yoga classes and fitness areas, but there is a charge for renting gear. I have a 12 punch pass which works great for me since I wasn’t going regularly.

I assume you mean Ascend Southside? I’m seldom there anymore. It’s out of the way for me, and the bouldering isn’t that great. But next time I go I’ll shoot you a DM.

That would be great! I’m in the south hills, so I go to ascend

Luckily there is a new requirement where paper records will not be accepted. All new records must be digitized.

You’re looking at roughly $70 for any gym around here, plus or minus a bit depending on sales. Ascend was running a year for $770, which got you a free month. I think that’s over. ICB is $68, with discounts for students. All come with unlimited climbing, access to their fitness centers, and usually discounts on classes. Yoga is usually free for members.
Bouldering is usually the easiest way to start. You can rent shoes and buy a day pass without having to commit to a month. That’s around $25. I recommend ICB for bouldering, it’s definitely the best route setting and it’s big enough to not feel crowded.

I just posted about finding people to snowboard with but I'm definitely interested in climbing as well. I was just looking around real quick, is $800 for a year at Ascend about average for climbing gyms?

Jordan Tax Service is the company the city uses to collect taxes.
Keystone Collections for boroughs within Allegheny County.
This topic comes up every year.

I might be down. I boulder a lot at ICB, and I also hit up Ascend PB once a week or so for roped climbing. Where do you climb? At the least, I can probably introduce you to some people.

Technically it is required, but the tax is so simple and easy to levy that the money is collected from most people without it. If you've changed jobs, have back pay, or some other unique situation, then it may be more important.

So is it necessary to file that little form they send you every year, if you’re filing state/federal taxes already. I’m a little confused what this even is

Joke's on you (sort of), the taxes are almost certainly already collected anyway

Jordan tax collects local tax. It ranges from 1%-1.4 percent depending on where you live. I believe the city is 3 percent which is a crime. Typically your employers are required to hold it out of your paycheck unless you work for the Federal govt. They have access to State returns so if something was left off of the local but reported to the State it can cause problems.
