The Magnet/charter schools provide a good option for students that need to school in a different neighborhood today as well. Thanks for the dates to give some context.

It is the blocked where the apartments by McCandless might soon be, afaik nothing's confirmed there. Either way, the fence has been blocking the street for at least ~7 years and it's bull shit.
The Mews on Butler are on both side of Berlin Way and the street is still open there.

Grew up in Sheraden (birth-2004), still friendly with a few childhood friends (Facebook etc). I chose to go to a magnet school (north side) to get away from bullying and abuse by a classmate. Then I moved for college then moved abroad, lived in around the city a bit then eventually settled in Stanton Heights. Oddly, I moved in up the street from my middle school English teacher & two different people I went to high school with.

I’d start with 311, your council person, and DOMI. Or put the cyclists on it - they get stuff done!

Didn't seem like much to me! I like where I'm living now, in Lawrenceville. This is the longest I've lived anywhere, and it's been quite awhile. I should add dates to my answer.

Yup, That’s a lot of moving for a kid. Happens. Which was your favorite?

Southside Slopes through grade school (1971), Shadeland Marshall through high school (1976), Squirrel Hill through college (1980). I left after college, and lost complete touch with anybody I knew during school years. Moved back in 1998.
EDIT: added dates

County Controller is a cool bonus, but you can't understate the importance of county executive. I think I'm gonna say executive and DA are equally important.

Isn't that new apartment building at McCandless going be built on Berlin Way? I think those Mews townhomes across from Shop n Save are also on top of Berlin Way.

Berlin Way is a street parallel to Butler only one block away from it. It’s supposed to become the official bike route for Upper Lawrenceville since people drive dangerously up here, but it’s currently fenced off and blocked by dumpsters.

Does anyone know what to do if property owners fence in a paper street? For example, there are super narrow pedestrian alleys in the south side that owners have blocked off.

I switched from Xfinity to FiOS a few months ago, it costs me the same and my internet is more consistent.

Okay let me rephrase it to help you understand. A small city surrounded on all sides by rural nothingness is going to have a significantly different culture than a much larger city where people can take a day trip to multiple equally large or larger cities.
vocalyouth t1_j50sx4h wrote
FiOS and Comcast are the only 2 real choices. I have had FIOS for the last 2 years, but have had Comcast before that. I basically bounce between them whenever one raises the price outrageously. I think FIOS for strictly internet is a better, more consistent service these days. I pay $59.99 for 600 up/down and use my own router so that's the fee out the door. Not quite gigabit but good enough for me and my partner and our many devices. Haven't really had any notable outages so far.

I have never in my life heard someone claim significantly less populated rural areas outside of a city influence the city more than the city would influence the areas surrounding it.

Modern country and certain bluegrass is quite popular everywhere at this point, and not really just a regional thing anymore. Country concerts now get a big draw whether they're in New England, Tennessee, California, or Toronto.
The upcoming Morgan Wallen concert tour this summer includes three concerts at Fenway and two at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ for example.
