Both. Old as hell house and I won't discuss the furnace situation here.

It’s mentioned down thread, but check the LED code on the motherboard and see what the furnace is trying to tell you. Kill the circuit, clean the igniter and check the intake and exhaust for blocks - sounds like it could be a gas supply or ignition problem if the blower is still running.
It seems dumb, but sometimes turning it off and turning it on again resets the furnace and thermostat - definitely make sure thermostat has power/batteries, etc also.

I make my own budget plan. I give 150 a month regardless. So I should have a good buffer in there for now.

If you haven’t already, look for blinking lights. The pattern will indicate a specific error codes, which are probably printed inside the front panel. There are one or two reset switches you can try, to reset it.
This is a safety feature, so wouldn’t go much further if the reset doesn’t work. If it does work I’d still have it looked at during the week.

You could likely be able to repair that part yourself if you can take that piece off and get the model number, you could probably get the replacement part and install it yourself.
I'd suggest getting the part even if your uncomfortable with replacing it yourself before contacting a HVAC tech that would have to do the same but have charged you for showing up just to get the model to order the part and then coming back in however long to install it.
I've done replacements like that before and it's not hard, but I stay away from dealing with replacing any of the like "gas line" parts for obvious reasons.

That’s what I am looking for. I care more about reliability and consistency and decent speeds then getting 1Gbps.
I guess I am gonna have to call them.

I run cables for tv and games consoles and stuff although my complaint is more about not as good experience before fiber upgrade. And no I never get 500. Plus all the reliability issues. I think there is some problem in the connection. I am going to contact Armstrong.

We believe it's the igniter. It has lights that flash and it's showing electrical issue.
Unnoble_Savage t1_j5f8y5f wrote
If it's gas powered have you checked the igniter coil?

Yes we replaced the filter a few days ago.
It was installed in 2008. Bought the house almost a year ago.

Silly stuff first. Did you check the filter? Next if it’s around 20 yrs old just get a new one. Last I always use Craft heating and cooling. Honest and reliable.

I'm paying for the 500Mbps service; I get around 560. I do a lot of downloading with it because of work and my speed is pretty rock solid. Only once in a while do I lose my internet and even then it's brief; it's been probably a year since last time that happened.

Insulate, regulate, repair/upgrade, transition.
We blew in new insulation in the attic, which helped with both cooling and heating bills. Replaced 4 windows (of 13), along the back of the house where the sun is worse in the Summer but the wind is pretty bad in Winter. House is now easier and cheaper to cool and heat.
Next step: more windows, in phases. And then more insulation wherever we can add it. Possibly, within 5-6 years, a new roof.
For the future: solar panels/battery storage. Columnar wind turbine.
The point being, you plan for the future right now. You invest what you can now, up front, to make things more efficient or affordable, later. You reap whatever benefits you can fet out of your efforts, now.

This is only the case if the new furnace was undersized for the load. More efficient is more efficient, but if you put in an efficient furnace that's only rated for 1/2 to 2/3 of the load it has to supported, you're going to be cold.
Properly sized high efficiency furnaces with variable or two-stage blowers will run longer at a lower burn rate, and shift to 100% when needed.
