Don’t get me wrong, I like going downtown and I’m not trying to bag on downtown, it just seems like there are better options that won’t cost an arm and a leg outside of downtown, that also have plenty of parking. Which seems important for the OP, it’s fine that you like it there but what the reason they want to live there? Maybe there’s a better option.

Oh I agree. Happened to my brother. Was just saying that it’s not always the worst case scenario.

Really I think it comes down to accountability. And I’m sure you noticed, overwhelming majority of people have an issue with that.

My wife and I are not struggling but I remember working for tips and minimum wage so we tend to tip a little higher.

1: on carryout I tip 20% which is the same as if I'm dining there, though this is a holdover from the pandemic. I figure that since the cost of wholesale food items is going up I do it so that my favorite family-run restaurants don't go under.

2: pizza delivery: the next dollar up from what the cost of a gallon of gas costs: $4-$5. For things like haircuts I typically tip $7 (which is about 25% and along with no putting on a ball is a thank you for not messing things up.)

3: It's gone up from 15% to 18% to 20% - sometimes even 25%. After working as a busboy I was shocked to learn that wait staff actually made LESS than minimum wage and expected to claim their tips come tax time.

People bitch about anything. Their job is to inform. If they call for snow and it doesn't you bitch, if it snows and they didn't mention it you bitch. Don't listen then and go by your own judgement

Climate change may not mean less snow for us. We could get bigger storms, including bigger snow storms. The jet stream could become more unstable and provide us with more arctic blasts.

While temps globally are going up, it means that weather itself becomes more unstable.

and the dirty little secret is that a lot of news stations get their weather directly from NWS.

unfortunately there's been a movement within a certain political party to privatize NWS data. It would be another cash grab -- socialize the costs, privatize the profits. https://www.pbs.org/newshour/show/who-benefits-from-the-privatization-of-weather-data
