  1. Carryout- usually 0, unless I'm feeling friendly and I might throw a buck or two or the change in there.
  2. Pizza- I haven't ordered delivery in ages since I pickup most times but used to always be $5. We also are only feeding 2 so it's not a crazy order.
  3. Dine in- 20% unless service is terrible or exemplary and then adjust accordingly.

Your landlord was giving you a good deal and needs to make up for it on the next tenant. If you feel bad you can give some money to the next tenant… jk. Caping rent usually causes land lords to raise by the max amount every year. Rent controls are a controversial economic policy with disadvantages and tricky externalities. I’m not saying is moral to charge high rent but it’a just really difficult to improve the situation without unintended consequences. The bottom line is supply and demand dictates more housing supply means lower rents so the best way to help people is promote new housing and stand up to nimby influences.

I'm not saying they arent allowed to do it, but in my opinion it is immoral, and should be something that is made illegal. There are some places already looking into caping rent increases and I really hope it is something we can adopt in Pittsburgh. Increasing rent is expected and normal, but to the degree and values it is happening is alarming, and boarders on price gouging

Rent has gone up a lot your small increase was because it's easier to keep a good tenant even if you can get more out of the unit. They have every right to rent the unit at market price to a new tenant. Before I brought my house my rent where id been 4 years was 675 and went up 5 each year. New leasers were paying 850 for the same units.

Do you use an electric space heater? Is your stove all electric or gas? A gas with electric pilot could use steadily. Another possible culprit - how old is your refrigerator? Side-by-sides are very inefficient, and the older ones especially. Any old fridge will use lots of electric. Assuming all your lighting is Led bulbs but if not, switch them out, you will see savings the next bill. Also big-screen tvs suck energy, consider putting on a power strip and turn of at the strip.

Very well said. Its awful how unwilling so many people in charge are to admitting the root problem is capitalism. It's not the children's fault at all, they are literally children. Capitalism means their parents dont have time to care if they want to also keep a roof over their heads, their teachers dont have the time or energy to handle problems for individual students even if they care. Our shitty healthcare system means that parents and their kids alike cant get accessible treatment for physical, emotional, or mental issues. Our justice system means many students dont have both parents, or are targeted before they are even adults.

So many problems in our society come from unchecked greedy and capitalism and tragically children seem to be bearing the brunt of it.

My building has a garage right across the street. Parking is a non-issue.

Some people may want to live in a historic condo surrounded by the beautiful city scape, you know? Cost doesn’t matter to everyone in the same way; I prioritized the environment over the absolute dollar amount.

You can call Duquesne Light and have them tell you the average for the past year, when they're other tenants, and you can get an idea as to if something's changed. However, most likely with an old house there's very poor to no insulation. I'm not sure if you own a rent, but you can easily seal cracks and use things like the plastic that you put over windows that you tighten up with a hair dryer. Dryer. It doesn't cost that much money even if your landlord's not willing to reimburse you and it makes a big difference. If you own, it would be good too. See if you can get insulation blown in the walls
