Not much. They brought back some trips and variations cut. But not wholesale restorations. This was done pre-COVID, but they were hampered by a lack of buses to restore service and out of room at their existing active garages to acquire more buses. Then, they pretty much used every bus they had available during peak periods. Of course since then ridership levels have tanked.

Fun fact: over 75% of pedestrians (Adults, kids, whoever) killed in school bus related accidents over a recent 10 year period were hit by the bus rather than other vehicles.

What would probably help reduce this obviously low hanging fruit while also reducing the liklihood of cars hitting kids as they pass the bus would be to stop the ridiculous practice of the driver holding up traffic to let kids cross against the light. Just drop them off, and pull away, THEN the kids can cross the street when it's their turn. If the kids can't handle that on their own, oh idk, have someone older meet them at the bus stop, like say, one of their parents, or a grandparent.

I need to get a lot more involved in public transit activism honestly, it's been something sort of on the brain for a while I just haven't and probably will look into it after the move.

There definitely haven't been fare hikes or anything -- the opposite actually, so we can say that at least. And even the service reductions come after they've been slowly cut over time. I'd be curious to compare to what MTA or New Jersey would be doing as well.

One thing I used to do was get plastic window sealer kits with double sided tape. My partner and I lived in a very old home built in the early 1900s, and every little bit helped.

We also got those things that have 2 round stuffed fabric cylinders with a piece of cloth holding them together to prevent drafts under the doors.

Both of those were pretty cheap and helped save on an already - expensive gas bill.

I was on Ohio River Blvd a few years ago near Aurochs Brewing. All four lanes were supposed to stop, but one jagoff decided he was too good to stop. A police cruiser happened to be at the intersection and witnessed it. Pulled the guy over immediately. It was so satisfying to watch.

We finally put those 100% blackout curtains up in all of our rooms and it's made a huge difference for us. It was pretty costly tho. Our house was built in the 20s so no actual insulation. We also got those draft stoppers for under doors. It helped stop some of those old house drafts as well.
