You shouldn't have been in the left lane.... Drive right, pass left. If someone comes up behind you while your in the left lane move to the right and just let them pass.

A few completely realistic ones off the top of my head:

  • A highway interchange in all directions between 28 and Parkway North would go a long way in unclogging North Shore surface streets. Having to go through four lights to get from 28S to 279N is absurd.
  • A ramp from Veterans Bridge inbound directly to Bigalow Blvd eastbound would alleviate huge amounts of traffic around Crosstown Park, which is only going to get worse with the Lower Hill redevelopment.
  • 100% of intersections with traffic signals should have modern pedestrian walk signals and countdown timers.
  • The intersection of Shady Ave and Forbes Ave in Squirrel Hill should have three phase light timing: green Shady, green Forbes and a four-way walk (like Negley & Centre or Penn & 6th). It's safer in general, but also pedestrians crossing Forbes often prevent turns off of Shady from both directions and gum up Shady traffic terribly.

Pie in the sky: Fully complete all segments of the Three Rivers Heritage Trail, at least within city limits. Use eminent domain if necessary to connect downtown to Upper Lawrenceville, get the South Side trail off of industrial side streets, etc.

So, good news and bad news. In the code under "Residential Compatibility Standards," it says this:

916.07 - Lighting
All lights used by development that is subject to
Residential Compatibility Standards shall be arranged and controlled so as to
deflect light away from any lot that is zoned RSD, RSA, RT, RM, or H. Any light
or combination of lights that casts light on a public street shall not exceed
one (1) foot-candle (meter reading) as measured from the centerline of such
street. Any light or combination of lights that cast light on a lot zoned R1D,
R1A, R2, R3, RM, or H shall not exceed 0.4 foot-candles (meter reading), as
measured no more than three (3) feet inside the lot line of a lot that is zoned
R1D, R1A, R2, R3, RM, or H.

That's the good news. They are not allowed to do that at all. The bad news is, its a PITA to get PLI to enforce RCS. Start with 311, though.

I am a felon! We know a thing or two about prison tattoos! 💝

Sorry about your stay in the drunk tank. Even 24 hours in the county is truly traumatic and ACJ is truly guilt of crimes against humanity. I know people who have died awaiting a bail hearing. I also knew a woman who was cuffed so tightly she lost her arm from the elbow down after only spending 12 hours in holding. I’m glad you made it okay!

I've been to ACJ for one night, worst night of my life. I'll pass on the knowledge from someone who is most likely a felon, thanks. Don't think you have much to say I'm interested in there ol knifebutt...

Well actually I have been to jail because I am in recovery from substance abuse. I haven’t used in ten years. 🙏🏼 I have spent years in Allegheny county jail and I can inform you that tear drop tattoos mean nothing and many people just tattoo their face because it’s aesthetically pleasing to them. If you have any questions about the county jail I would love to answer them for you!

Also ‘Shiv’ is a character on a television show called Succession. She has a huge ass. ‘Bot’ is short for the word robot. I am surprised that someone who watches so much TV is unfamiliar with one that wins Emmys consistently. I would check it out!

I disagree with the desensitization angle purely based on the national reaction to the murder of George Floyd and the subsequent protests across the country and even internationally. I'd go so far as to suggest that people were/are very sensitive about it when they see these videos of violence against innocent people.

The Forge for drinks beforehand. If you want an app, the Old World Falafel is life changing. (I didn't know falafel could taste that good)

Dinner afterwards, in that area:

-Morcilla: Spanish tapas. A little pricy but incredibly unique for the city and also unique as far as Spanish tapas places go.

-The Parlor Dim Sum: Get a bunch of dumplings in all shapes and sizes. Great for sharing, and an excellent cocktail list.

-The Vandal: contemporary American food. I haven't been since they remodeled, but prior to, it was a cut above in this highly represented genre in the city.

-Bar Botanico: after dinner drinks spot if you stay in the area. They're GREAT!

Others less close by:

-Apteka: vegan Polish food. They have a pop-up right now, so it may be impossible to get in until after next week. They're THE MOST unique restaurant in the city, simply because I don't think there's another restaurant in America making food like they are (it's why they made the NYT top 50 list)

-Gi-Jin: Raw fish bar. They're doing unique things with raw fish and rolls which I haven't seen outside of PGH, let alone in the city.

-40 North at Alphabet City: Upscale Asian inspired cuisine. The setting in a bookstore is unique on its own. Don't let that deceive you, the quality is on another level here.

-Spork: also upscale/commentary American. Great service, fun dishes. Expensive, but at my last visit I was given two or three amuse-bouche which I did not select. Worth it, to me. Try the crispy octopus!

Let me know if you have any questions!
