I'm not touching this mess, other than to say that you've done an awful job understanding their concerns. I'm certainly happy to note that your conception of the concerns wasn't relevant in how that whole thing went down.

Here's the problem. At that point, Bill Peduto was a City Councilman. He came at the CIS department not from a position of authority - in fact he did his best NOT to work with the administration chain of command. A "favor" to Bill - and him berating our Director - was outside of our workflow.

To emphasize - a "favor" to Bill Peduto involving a department and a team of employees that don't report to him isn't a valid workflow. We ALSO had important projects that our actual bosses tasked us with.

A software project done as a "favor" - that's typical of Peduto's leadership shortcomings. He was lucky that our Director even gave him the time of day, but he did...and that sort of thing didn't go over well in his chain of command.

I wonder how far "favor" software projects flung over by councilpeople got when Bill became mayor. Probably not far. Sadly, his leadership shortcomings only became more pronounced.

If Priya had paying customers that got back-burnered for this "favor"...yeesh, what a debacle. What an operational miasma. Those customers must have wondered what they were paying for. Maybe after paying the company, they also needed to ask Peduto for a favor, eh?

Silly nonsense.

I agree. I had a company overview today. It does not sound right. You have to pay for the licensing, and the company is supposed to do that. Plus, what they are selling sounds too good to be true, would cost the average person an arm and a leg. The pay doesn't sound right either. Nor does the lavish lifestyle they claim with the trips and the cars. Something doesn't add up.

It’s more than a nonprofit, Shazier has his own insurance agency affiliated with AIL too. I doubt he engages in the antics of Arias but doesn’t seem like the best bed to lay in. As for the nonprofit that is quite a crew they assembled there too and a cool 1.5k a plate they must do a lot of good lol

It's a really great center for anyone who hasn't been, I highly recommend it.

Western Pennsylvania has such a fascinating history with glass, even today we are still a leader in manufacturing and innovation for the aviation glass market. It's not a huge market, but the players involved are all mixing a different combination of old techniques with modern technology and it's an enjoyable niche rabbit hole to get lost in.

And then of course there is this fascinating little footnote from local history:

>The United States Glass Company was located near the Monongahela River on Seventh Street. The company specialized in "pressed glass," tableware, and other glass products made from molds. Unfortunately, in 1963 the United States Glass Company was damaged by a tornado, and their 80-foot water tower collapsed through the building's roof. The furnaces shut down and the liquid glass cooled and hardened. Afterwards there was left a 250-ton block of solid glass, making any plans to rebuild too costly.

Anyway, yeah. Glass and Pittsburgh. I'm glad the long journey the two have shared has led (in part) to us having this wonderful facility, go check it out.

I feel like that's a grift that should be looked into, too. Looks like they're connected through "Steel City Impact," a non-profit that is supposed to help disadvantaged kids in Pittsburgh (specifically Sto-Rox, looks like). Their board includes Arias, former WNBA player Tyra Grant (who also works for Arias), Justin Adams (the guy in the board room wearing a tank top in one of the videos), the owner of Armina Stone, Ryan Shazier, Jimmy Wan (for some reason, from the restaurants), and others. They're doing an event next month where VIP tickets are $1,500. Probably worth looking into what, exactly, they accomplish.
