I'm 43, live about 45 mins from Kennywood, but our school had school picnics there. I said, "Kennywoods open!" to my 14 year old and he had no clue. I had to explain it to him. My husband, same age as me, grew up in West Mifflin but went to a Catholic school (I always tease he never experienced the real world because he didn't go to public school.) he also had no clue what this meant and said he never heard it before? I was so confused? I thought everyone around here knew what it meant.

On the back of the door, so you see it as you exit the restroom, there's a little sign that says, "Is Kennywood Open?"

We were just there earlier this evening. It was ok. My son said he didn't care to ever go back again. It was my second trip there with my wife in maybe the last 2 months. We liked it better the first time. It might've been the people in the crowd with us. There was a table of roughly 10-15 people next to us that didn't seem to care what their kids were doing. Pretty much running circles around their table. Moving chairs, blocking aisles.
My wife got a steak and potato. My son and I, just the buffet. With the tip, it was $75 for 3. To me, it isn't worth $75 or $25 per person. The buffet itself is $14. Drinks were $3.
The buffet had salad and 6 or so dressings, macaroni salad, some kind of tuna salad, potato salad, cole slaw, chicken, chicken wings, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, stuffing, 2 kinds of gravy, taco meat and cheese sauce with taco shells or tortilla chips, pizza, french fries, perogies, pudding.
The area to the side had an ice cream machine that the vanilla was empty, toppings like nuts, chocolate chips, whipped cream, strawberries for the ice cream, cookies, cake and pies.
We're planning on going roughly once a month because we're going to buy a special dog food from the Rural King at the mall. We drove about 45 minutes each way from about 5 miles north of Pittsburgh.

Oh dang how weird. I even price checked Drano the other day, fully expecting Wegmans to be way more expensive, it was $1.50 cheaper than Walmart. Maybe my Walmart is just screwy.

Any business providing basic necessities but in the news for the rich people shenanigans of their leadership has jumped the shark. Down with the dirty bird.

Last time I ate there… I got sick in the parking lot after my meal. Ended up with food poisoning from something. Not sure what. This was a few years ago however. I just couldn’t get myself to ever go vack

Ya we blew past 24 hours earlier today. They are apparently sticking to the Monday at 8pm thing pretty hard, we are still without power.
It's not like the pipes will freeze or anything but the house is at 51 degrees and we are heading into night number 2 without heat. Everyone is bundled up, I think every blanket in the house has been deployed at this point. Even that really ugly one that someone's great aunt gave us as a wedding gift 10 years ago.
Sorry Aunt Edith, even if we never loved the gift we certainly appreciate it now.

I'm a transplant, moved here 15 years ago, which is around the time my yinzer friends shared it with me. (they also had to explain what a gumband is). one of my favorite pittsburgh phrases! i use it when i can and share it with people who don't live in pittsburgh if they'll think it's funny (which they almost always do).
