It's not owned by GE. It's owned by a Jewish family close to the Shapiras and some of the other founding families and a lot of times (like the one in the Fox Chapel plaza) Giant Eagle pays the lease for Community to use the space so that way a friend is blocking the space from a larger competitor to take over.

Expiration dates are useless and contribute to both food waste and food company profits.

I once bought butter that expired two years prior at ALDI. Didn’t catch it until I noticed the butter looked very off then I checked the date.

I was using a bit hyperbole. I don’t live on a boat full time. Just part time during the summer months. It’s pretty great really. I’m a boater, and love being on the river. So it’s cool to have a little house on the river that I can start up and drive around. For me it’s more about boating than having a house. What I mean by that is I know some people that live on a boat because it’s a cheap way to live. For me it’s a hobby. I like boating and a houseboat is the perfect type of boat for what I do now. I’ve owned all different types of boats, but houseboating is where I’m at right now. If you have specific questions, feel free to “slide into my DM’s” as the kids say.

The state's auditor general called them out for this years ago (almost a decade at this point) and then the state/DOE did absolutely nothing about it, so presumably they can do this.

I've fantasized about living on a house boat in a city before. How is it?

Not sure how much they have in terms of amenities these days. Propel enrollment is way down, so their funding would be way down. It's also quite unequal across the board with their schools. Some schools have jackshit, and their teachers make do with the bare minimum (or pay a ton out of pocket for their own stuff).

Expiration dates are mainly marketing. They're only required a small # of foods and there's no real science behind those either.

This is 100% false. The customer can write the donation off, not the store.

Past date does not mean the food cannot be consumed, please read this article. http://www.fsis.usda.gov/food-safety/safe-food-handling-and-preparation/food-safety-basics/food-product-dating#:~:text=Are%20Dates%20for%20Food%20Safety,not%20required%20by%20Federal%20law.

Just because you haven’t witnessed it doesn’t mean that it hasn’t been occurring.
