Don’t get me wrong, fat has its time and place. I cant eat meat any longer but I long for the days of a nice fatty rib eye or thick hunk of fatty prime rib cooked medium rare. Im a big believer in Philly cheesesteaks being fatty. Hell I picked the fatty parts off the roast hams my mom made for the holidays. But there is just something so off about the fat in lunchmeat like this. I also think their closely related cousins the dutch load, old fashioned loaf, pickle loaf etc are equally gross and they use similar methods.

In the town I grew up in there was a small mom and pop grocery store. They had some bins in the store full of items with "Reduced for quick sale" stickers on them. All of them were expired and at a discounted price. My Grandmother lived almost entirely off of food from these bins for as long as I can remember. For as long as she was able to shop for herself her fridge and cabinets were filled with items that had those stickers on them.

That sounds like upside down logic to me, but I came from TX (born and raised in PA but never a homeowner in PA). In TX, my 805 sq. ft. house was going to hit $5000 in property taxes this year. That’s why I left, I was tired of having my blood drained.

I always was frustrated at how little there is, especially with the blank slate we had in the strip, waterfront, and even SSW.. hopefully with some more development on the rivers, we will see people look to incorporate.

I will say if you find yourself in Beaver, there’s a couple unique restaurants along Beaver River: The Standard, which is a bar/grill, Kelly’s Pub, and Mario’s dockside grill.

Another one coming to mind is Farmer Baker which is a breakfast restaurant in the Allegheny River trail park in aspinwall. Great place for Saturday morning stops.

BBQ sauce usually has garlic, Worcestershire sauce, onion (either fresh or powder), and usually more sugar than you would find ham BBQ sauce. A lot of BBQ sauces are quite high in the molasses, which ham BBQ is typically not. I know we are sort of splitting hairs here, but personally, ham BBQ sauce is enough different from traditional BBQ sauce to me that I consider them to be two separate things.
