I've been no-mowing May since before it was cool (I hate mowing the lawn).

That's what CARB is trying to do and people still complain. All of my yard power tools are electric and the reduction in noise pollution alone is worth it.

It was done stupidly too. For Hopewell, the call went to Aliquippa PD. The post office is in Aliquippa so the school has Aliquippa in the mailing address - even though we have our own police force. HQ right next to the Jr. High none the less.
No one actually from Hopewell would have made that mistake. Whoever did this just googled it and guessed.

Nope, no secret. Sometimes finding a good place is trial and error, but the availability of reviews is a good equalizer.
If you edit your comment with a general location, maybe some folks will have good recs. Pretty sure can search the sub and find some, as well.

Fair point. But like, pick any place? Just one with good reviews? No secret about it?

Of all the luxuries I am fortunate to be able to afford, my lawn guy is #1. $35 a cut, never have to worry about if it's going to rain over the weekend so I have to do it after work on Thursday, no lawnmower purchase or maintenance, no getting covered in all the nubbins and sweaty.
I tip the shit out of them first and last cut.

Um I don’t agree with the 69420 guy but saying go buy a home it’s not hard is nonsense. It is hard to buy a home. Property values are insane currently. Townhouses for 300k and such it’s nonsense.

I looked into it a few years ago and the permit fee was $350 and the requirements were for more land than I had to place a coop far enough from property lines. 😞

There just really isn't any market pressure or interest in expanding town in this direction.
Plenty of bad things in the past have happened to cut the area off from relevancy, but even low prices don't attract interest.

This looks familiar. We've may have some similar questions to this in the past. You might find some good info here : Mechanic search. I don't always get it right though, cuz I'm just a simple bot.

In the days of social media things like this don’t require any sophistication at all. Someone in Nebraska sees a tweet about it happening in Pittsburgh and decides to do the same thing

Oh hell yes. Get you some chipped ham at the deli, cook it in BBQ sauce(islays is the #1 seed), slap that on a bun, and eat it.
Every family engagement with the Pittsburgh side of my family had/has a slow cooker full of that.

Yeah I know I may sound like I'm wearing a tin foil hat but thoughts go to the Russians or Chinese trying to stoke unrest in the US.
It could go either way. School shootings start the debate about gun control which divides the nation. False alarms like this are just fuel to the fire. One of the first comments I heard muttered when I arrived on scene was "this is why we need to give the teachers guns".
Which, in fairness it was a emotionally charged situation because we had no idea what was going on, and people were just running their mouths.
